Dear readers of „
we hope you are all doing well as the pandemic is now abating in many countries and things are getting better for most of us. As we are constantly seeking to enlarge the panel of peers in our Advisory Board we are pleased to inform you that Professor Xie Jianping, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute (ZTRI) in Zhengzhou, Henan, has agreed to become a member of our Advisory Board. It has been our wish for some time to invite a tobacco scientist onto the Board to reflect the growing number of manuscripts that are submitted to our Journal by author groups out of China. Thus we are glad to announce that our invitation has been accepted by this distinguished tobacco scientist of the Peoples Republic of China. Professor Xie Jianping has been engaged in tobacco science and engineering research throughout all his career and he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in these fields of research. He has been representing his Institute at the CORESTA Board for a number of years.
For some time now we have sought to invite a scientist for the classic analytics field and it is with great pleasure that we inform you that Chuan Liu, formerly of British American Tobacco, has accepted our invitation to join the Advisory Board of
Dr. Liu is a chemist with a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. He has had a distinguished career at British American Tobacco where he was Head of New Stimulant Science until his retirement this year. We are pleased that Dr. Liu, a co-worker of our late friend and board member Dr. Richard Baker, has agreed to join our panel of peers.
In addition, we would like to inform our readers that starting with the next issue we will switch to the so-called Open Volume Model (or Continuous Publication Model). This is a kind of publishing ahead-of-print, which is used by many journals that publish online. Manuscripts are uploaded and therefore published as soon as the manuscript has been accepted for publication and editing is finished. We will not publish unfinished articles. The advantage of this model is that individual papers can be made available online before the entire issue has been completed. This will shorten the time between submission and publication of a manuscript. In addition, papers can be cited with full bibliographic details from day one.
