<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p> Gas chromatographic resolution of the vapour phase of cigarette smoke has been refined by use of Golay columns. Constituents such as butenone, different nitriles and a few others were identified. Estimated amounts for 38 assured or probable constituents are listed. The findings were applied to study the differences in vapour composition between smoke from normal and from extracted cigarettes, as well as from cigarette paper.</p></abstract>
