Cite

Incorporating specialization into innovation and entrepreneurship programs has proven to be an effective strategy for advancing this education in higher education institutions. This study firstly proposes the teaching mode of “integration of specialization and innovation” in sports colleges and universities, and on the basis of this, selects the evaluation indexes for the improvement of teaching innovation ability of physical education teachers, and prepares relevant questionnaires. Then, the weights of the indicators of the progress of teaching innovation ability were determined by the CRITIC method. The samples were evaluated and cluster analyzed for the improvement of the teaching innovation ability of physical education teachers. The study indicates that physical education teachers’ overall capacity for teaching innovation is moderate. While their teaching skills are highly developed, their innovation skills are generally lacking, with 75.94% of teachers receiving a medium or poor rating in innovation. Four categories emerged from the analysis: innovative, double-weak, teaching-focused, and teaching innovation. Notably, 66.31% of the teachers excelled either in teaching enhancement or innovation. In addition, physical education teachers’ teaching innovation ability enhancement = 0.452 + 0.258*professional ability + 0.206*teaching environment + 0.184*professionalism + 0.156*professional knowledge. The study is conducive to fully utilizing the potential of physical education teachers and enhancing their teaching innovation ability in colleges and universities.
