Editorial Policy
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Editorial Board of Koroze a ochrana materiálu (KOM) expects all parties participating in the publication of KOM commit to these publication ethics. Plagiarism or other unethical behaviour will not be tolerated. Any manuscript that does not meet these standards will be rejected.

Authors of contributions and studies research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. A paper should contain sufficient details and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable. Authors can be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. Authors should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one publication concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Authorship must be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

The editor of KOM is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor is guided by the policies of the journal's Editorial Board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor confers with reviewers in making this decision.

The editor must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author and reviewers. Manuscripts received for review are treated as confidential documents. The editor commits to champion freedom of expression, maintain the integrity of the academic record, and preclude business needs from compromising intellectual standards.

The editor has a duty to act if he/she suspects misconduct. This duty extends to both published and unpublished papers. The editor should not simply reject papers that raise concerns about possible misconduct. He/she is ethically obliged to pursue alleged cases. The editor must refuse misleading advertisements and be willing to publish criticisms, according to the same criteria used for material in the rest of the journal.

All submitted papers are subject to strict peer-review process by at least one reviewer that is expert in the area of the particular paper. The editor ensures that peer reviewers' identities are protected. The factors that are taken into account in review are (1) relevance, (2) soundness, (3) significance, (4) originality, (5) readability, and (6) language. The possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. Authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit a submission, but with no guarantee that the revised submission will be accepted. Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed. Articles may be rejected without review if they are obviously not suitable for publication.

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper. Reviews are conducted objectively. The reviewers evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. Personal criticism of the author is not allowed. Reviewers´ are expected to express their views clearly with supporting arguments. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which he/she has personal knowledge.

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's or reviewer's own research without the express written consent of the author.

The editor will encourage debate by publishing any cogent criticisms of published work unless the editor has convincing reasons to act otherwise. Authors of criticised material will be given the opportunity to respond.

The editor responds promptly to complaints and ensures there is a way for dissatisfied complainants to take complaints further. The author has right to appeal against editorial decisions to the Editorial Board. In such a case, an alternative editor will be selected to review the case.

We provide very fast publication procedure. Our peer review is fast, fair and constructive. The article is published in the journal as soon as it is feasible in terms of time and space.
