Influence of Cutting Environment on Tool Life

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

The issues of cutting environment and a suitable choice of cutting conditions by drilling are the main subjects of the article. Attention is paid to the application of the drilling process into the carbon steel. Analysed were the phenomena that adversely affect the tool life. The article demonstrated solutions how to remove these adverse effects. The multicriteria optimisation of input factors (cutting fluid concentration, cutting speed) for a defined target function (tool life) was applied. The measured values were subjected to mathematical–statistical analysis (ANOVA). Based on the implemented experiment and study of this issue, we determined the combinations of input factors, which achieved minimal values of target functions. Based on the implemented experiment and study of this issue, we also determined the combinations of input factors, which achieved minimal values of target functions. Based on this allegation, the most appropriate combination of the following input factors was proved: concentration 6.3 % and cutting speed 100 m/min.

Design and Production of the Injection Mould with a Cax Assistance

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

This paper is focused on the process of designing the desired plastic component and injection mould by using the 3D CAD systems. The subsequent FEM analysis of the injection mould process was carried out in order to define shrinkage and deformation of the plastic material by CAE system. The dimensions of the mould were then modified to compensate the shrinkage effect. Machining process (milling and the laser texturing) of the mould was performed by using CAM systems. Finally, after the production of the plastic components by the injection mould technology, the inspection of the plastic component dimensions was carried out by CAQ in order to define the accuracy of the whole CAx chain. It was also demonstrated that CAx systems are an integral part of pre-production and production process.

Real Time Monitoring and Automatic Regulation System for Metalworking Fluids

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

A real-time monitoring and regulation system for metalworking fluids is being constructed to be installed in the Centre of excellence of 5-axis machining at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. The article is focused on the description of the main components of the monitoring system and preliminary characterization of the software utilized in the regulation. The monitoring system will contain four probes to record real time values of pH, conductivity, temperature and concentration. After processing of recorded data by the LabVIEW software, an adjustment of the Metalworking fluid in the reservoir tank will be realized by the regulation part of the proposed system to optimum properties of the fluid, by adding water or concentrate. The designed device will provide an easy system which will control the quality of used metalworking fluid during its lifetime and maintain it on its optimum condition without human operator’s assistance.

Using Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate for Foaming Polymers

Abstract

All plastics products are made of the essential polymer mixed with a complex blend of materials known collectively as additives. Without additives, plastics would not work, but with them, they can be made safer, cleaner, tougher and more colourful. Additives cost money, but by reducing production costs and making products live longer, they help us save money and conserve the world's precious raw material reserves. In fact, our world would be a lot less safe, a lot more expensive and a great deal duller without the additives that turn basic polymers into useful plastics. One of these additives is sodium bicarbonate. Influence of sodium bicarbonate on properties of the product made of polystyrene was observed in the research described in this paper. Since polystyrene is typically used as a material for electrical components, the mechanical properties of tensile strength and inflammability were measured as a priority. Inflammability parameters were measured using a cone calorimeter.

Abstract

Use of an industrial robot in the production process as a spindle carrier is currently an interesting topic. However, if the stiffness of the robot is not sufficient, various imprecisions may occur during machining. The article deals with monitoring and evaluating the impact of cutting conditions and positions of the workpiece in the working area on the machined surfaces oriented in orthogonal planes. The aim of the experiment was to analyse the precision of simple planar surfaces milled using a robot.

Abstract

The article is aimed at visualisation types in assembly. Broad usage of artificial visualisation in assembly is held down mainly for economic reasons. One of the possible solutions is usage of the presented light visualisation method. This simple method of light visualisation is convenient when vibration orientation is not working properly and artificial visualisation is economically ineffective. Described principle of orientation is a technical solution of the author.

Abstract

We deal with static prearranged couples in practice quite often. Constructers are using them a lot to improve rigidity of product. Some examples are mentioned in this article. The paper also discusses the models of kinematic couples in plane and models of kinematic couples in space. Spatial movable and non-movable couples are commented on as well. The article particularly focuses on application of statics in the assembly in spatial couples (movable, non-movable) for intentional allowance fix which leads to a non-problem assembly. With fix like this, it is possible to manufacture selected parts in series while assuring non-problem assembly.

Abstract

This paper is focused on the effect of generator’s parameters on the stability of WEDM process that is expressed by the length of time of cutting until the wire electrode breaks. This paper provides an overview of the current research articles dealing with the causes of the wire electrode’s rupture and the options of control and regulation of the process. The aim was to clarify the impact of input parameters to the cutting process, and to find those parameters making the process as fast as possible and stable. The experiment was performed on the machine of Agie Charmilles Robofil 310. As input factors were selected pulse width, time between two pulses, servo voltage, pulse current, short pulse time and frequency. Due to the fact that it is necessary to assess the impact of several input parameters, Taguchi experimental design was selected. L27 matrix was used. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used for evaluation.

The Influence of Internal Structures in Fused Deposition Modeling Method on Dimensional Accuracy of Components

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

The paper investigates the influence of infill (internal structures of components) in the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) method on dimensional and geometrical accuracy of components. The components in this case were real models of human mandible, which were obtained by Computed Tomography (CT) mostly used in medical applications. In the production phase, the device used for manufacturing, was a 3D printer Zortrax M200 based on the FDM technology. In the second phase, the mandibles made by the printer, were digitized using optical scanning device of GOM ATOS Triple Scan II. They were subsequently evaluated in the final phase. The practical part of this article describes the procedure of jaw model modification, the production of components using a 3D printer, the procedure of digitization of printed parts by optical scanning device and the procedure of comparison. The outcome of this article is a comparative analysis of individual printed parts, containing tables with mean deviations for individual printed parts, as well as tables for groups of printed parts with the same infill parameter.

Abstract

The paper is focused on reducing machining time by using 3D optical scanner of ATOS Triplescan II. Workpiece was a forging die, which was renovated by hard facing. The contribution deals with comparing the CAM simulation of roughing process according to the STL model imported from ATOS, and simulation without thus-defined workpiece. The results indicate a significant improvement of machining time based on CAQ technology and usage of the ATOS device for measuring the errors of weld deposit.

3D Model Optimization of Four-Facet Drill for 3D Drilling Simulation

Abstract

The article is focused on optimization of four-facet drill for 3D drilling numerical modelling. For optimization, the process of reverse engineering by PowerShape software was used. The design of four-facet drill was created in NumrotoPlus software. The modified 3D model of the drill was used in the numerical analysis of cutting forces. Verification of the accuracy of 3D models for reverse engineering was implemented using the colour deviation maps. The CAD model was in the STEP format. For simulation software, 3D model in the STEP format is ideal. STEP is a solid model. Simulation software automatically splits the 3D model into finite elements. The STEP model was therefore more suitable than the STL model.

Wear of Cutting Tool with Excel Geometry in Turning Process of Hardened Steel

Abstract

This paper deals with hard turning using a cutting tool with Xcel geometry. This is one of the new geometries, and there is not any information about Xcel wear in comparison to the conventional geometry. It is already known from cutting tools producers that using the Xcel geometry leads to higher quality of machined surface, perticularly surface roughness. It is possible to achieve more than 4 times lower Ra and Rz values after turning than after using conventional geometry with radius. The workpiece material was 100Cr6 hardened steel with hardness of 60 ± 1 HRC. The machine used for the experiment was a lathe with counter spindle DMG CTX alpha 500, which is located in the Centre of Excellence of 5–axis Machining at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. The cutting tools made by CBN were obtained from Sandvik COROMANT Company.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the cutting tool wear in hard turning process by the Xcel cutting tool geometry.

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

Assembly plays a decisive role in global production in terms of its share in the total costs of the products assembled and in terms of the number of people working in the field. The author of (1) indicates that the percentage of the workers in assembly out of the total number of the workers in manufacturing in the U.S.A. ranged from 26.3% (bicycles) to 45.6% (automobiles), while the cost of the product assembly represented typically more than 50% of the total costs. Despite the above-mentioned importance of assembly in the industry, the discontinuous production processes have not been paid adequate attention until recently. It was sufficient to manufacture parts and then an operative reasonably and inexpensively assembled each product manually. The authors of this paper would like to emphasise “the method of a systemic approach” which focuses upon identifying the key activities to meet the objective. Harmonious interrelations of the activities are often a source of greater profit than in a system where some activities are of the top level while the others are neglected (2). The aim of this paper is to describe theoretical aspects of all the typical activities of the assembly system.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to look closer at the rheological properties of plastics and their impact on technology in the plastics processing industry. The paper focuses on the influence of viscosity of the material on filling the mould cavity. Four materials were tested with the settings of process parameters with different viscosity. Using simulation software of Moldex3D, we can see the effect of change in viscosity in the material to be filled.

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

This paper deals with hard turning using a cutting tool with Xcel geometry. This is one of the new geometries, and there is not any information about Xcel wear in comparison to the conventional geometry. It is already known from cutting tools producers that using the Xcel geometry leads to higher quality of machined surface, perticularly surface roughness. It is possible to achieve more than 4 times lower Ra and Rz values after turning than after using conventional geometry with radius. The workpiece material was 100Cr6 hardened steel with hardness of 60 ± 1 HRC. The machine used for the experiment was a lathe with counter spindle DMG CTX alpha 500, which is located in the Centre of Excellence of 5–axis Machining at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. The cutting tools made by CBN were obtained from Sandvik COROMANT Company.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the cutting tool wear in hard turning process by the Xcel cutting tool geometry.

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

Assembly plays a decisive role in global production in terms of its share in the total costs of the products assembled and in terms of the number of people working in the field. The author of (1) indicates that the percentage of the workers in assembly out of the total number of the workers in manufacturing in the U.S.A. ranged from 26.3% (bicycles) to 45.6% (automobiles), while the cost of the product assembly represented typically more than 50% of the total costs. Despite the above-mentioned importance of assembly in the industry, the discontinuous production processes have not been paid adequate attention until recently. It was sufficient to manufacture parts and then an operative reasonably and inexpensively assembled each product manually. The authors of this paper would like to emphasise “the method of a systemic approach” which focuses upon identifying the key activities to meet the objective. Harmonious interrelations of the activities are often a source of greater profit than in a system where some activities are of the top level while the others are neglected (2). The aim of this paper is to describe theoretical aspects of all the typical activities of the assembly system.

Impact of Viscosity on Filling the Injection Mould Cavity

Zusammenfassung

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to look closer at the rheological properties of plastics and their impact on technology in the plastics processing industry. The paper focuses on the influence of viscosity of the material on filling the mould cavity. Four materials were tested with the settings of process parameters with different viscosity. Using simulation software of Moldex3D, we can see the effect of change in viscosity in the material to be filled.
