<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Urban renewal projects are based on long-term strategies and huge economical resources. It takes a lot of time to successfully regenerate an abandoned area, create a new centre, infrastructure, businesses, communities. It also needs the kind of systematic and conscious focus that we see in Germany and Scandinavia. While Spain was one of the most touched countries of the economical crisis, it still succeeded at presenting interesting urban development initiatives. One example is the follow-up of the Olympic development in Barcelona, 22@Barcelona project. I would like to introduce the ongoing project’s main objectives and processes and elaborate on the most interesting and valuable results from this project to consider for the present strategy of brownfield renewal in Hungary.</abstract>

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Natural gas is still the primary input of the Hungarian heating and cooling systems, therefore it still makes most of the overheads. One of the main obstacles of a competitive district heating system is the public opinion which still considers this service more expensive than the traditional heating forms. According to the absolute numbers this assumption might be valid but from a more accurate economic perspective, heat production has more aspects to stress. Most people forget about the simple fact that the maintenance costs of natural gas based systems are rather outsourced to the consumer than in the case of district heating. Furthermore, the uneven rate of the fixed and variable costs of this technology does not prove to be optimal for service developments. Investigating the future tendencies highlight that encouraging the efficiency improvement of district heating and the spread of technological innovation in the sector does not belong to the top priorities. Still, avoiding this problem it could lead serious deadweight losses in the case of the heating sector.</abstract>

Long-term Green Innovation Opportunities Within the Hungarian District Heating Sector Towards 2030

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The NER300 program, founded by the European Commission, is one of the world’s largest initiatives for funding low-carbon innovation projects like renewable energy development or carbon capture and storage. During the operation of this program there has been 38 supported projects from more than 2 billion Euros. The European Union announced that they are willing to maintain this mechanism for the next programming period from 2021 to 2030 on the name “NER400”. According to the early estimations the available amount of funds is going to cover more than 9 billion EUR for the member states. The trend for smart metering systems throughout Europe is well-known among the countries. Still, considering the foreseeable EU regulations regarding the dissemination of these devices. The present study provides with a review of the European best practices for setting smart metering systems and studies the recent Hungarian endeavors for running pilot projects in this field.</abstract>

Development and Subsidization Possibilities for Efficient Energy Provision in the Hungarian Built Environment Within the 2021-2030 EU Programming Period

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> In the case of economic and social wealth, it is strategically essential to provide reliable energy sources which are available in long-term. Setting an energy network which suits the sustainable criteria might take a long time. Therefore, it is important to make decisions on the energy sector in advance. The Hungarian National Energy strategy elaborated on certain scenarios towards 2030, which describe the possible electricity generation opportunities up to 2020 and 2030. For 2020, there is already an accurate recommendation, but in case of the 2030 targets, there are several ways for innovation. Out of all, the realization of the “Nuclear-Carbon-Green” scenario seems most likely to be implemented. It implies the obvious involvement of nuclear energy potential development in the future strategies. Considering this trend, the present study divides the mentioned strategy into “Nuclear-Carbon” and “Nuclear-Green” scenarios to compare their long-term efficiency by economic means.</abstract>

The Cost-Benefit Relations of the Future Environmental Related Developments Strategies in the Hungarian Energy Sector

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The changes which took place a quarter of a century ago in the countries of Europe’s Eastern Bloc transformed the social conventions of the time. A kind of social dialog has been started, about the Holocaust amongst other things. New memorials and monuments dedicated to the Holocaust have been constructed in the countries of the region as a result. Several phases can be identified in the building of monuments to the Holocaust over the past 25 years. These changes in the process of recollection and in the building of the monuments themselves are typified by the House of Fates project. The memorial center was built in Budapest for the 70th anniversary of the Holocaust. But the changes in recollection did not stop there, did not come to a standstill in Hungary. It is a mark of the sensitivity of the subject that although the center was finished by the fall of 2015, it has still not opened its gates to the public. In the meantime the project has appeared in several Hungarian professional journals, however these articles do not venture far beyond the realm of basic description. Here we are attempting to analyze the project architecturally. Our analysis shows how the initial usage of primary symbols turns to more contemplative, more abstract images and devices.</abstract>

Remembrance and Architecture the House of Fates Project

<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The world’s habitat is being deteriorated despite of the precautions taken. Construction industry is among the industries which highly effect the environment adversely not only through its outputs but also through the construction process and its inputs. The main focus in dealing with the reduction of its footprint has been on sustainable building certificates which mainly analyse the output of the construction activies. There is need to analyse the construction supply chain as a whole and to embed sustainability dynamics in construction supply chain management. Lean construction project management contributes to the reduction of the environmental footprint of the construction industry, enabling reduction in waste, and increasing value added activities. For this reason, based on an in depth literature review, this paper analyses and establishes the principles of the integration of the sustainability dynamics into lean construction supply chain management.</abstract>
