The Challenge of Transport Infrastructure: Today’s System of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan

In this article, the author describes the current system of transport infrastructure planning in Germany (BVWP). The forecasting system and the projects derived are subject to intense public discussion and criticism. The author is scrutinizing the main discussion points and develops proposals for a modernization of the existing system.
