Persistent Foramen Ovale Associated with Systemic Lupus as a Cause of Acute Ischemic Stroke - A Case Report

Zitieren

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) caused by occlusion of a large blood vessel in the neck and / or head presents a common clinical picture in patients with congenital heart defects with the combined existence of systemic diseases. This paper presents a 32 - year - old patient with AIS in the field of cardioembolization. Since it was an occlusion of a large blood vessel (supraclinoid part of the left ICA), an endovascular procedure of mechanical thrombus extraction was applied. Further examination revealed the presence of persistent foramen ovale (PFO) and systemic lupus (SLE) in this patient. The patient underwent percutaneous closure of ASD 5 months after EVT.
