This paper aims to validate the geotechnical parameters obtained using new proposed correlations [1] with in situ test results by using the finite element method (FEM). To achieve this objective was performed a numerical modelling of a deep excavation built in the Northern area of Bucharest, by using several constitutive models such as Mohr-Coulomb, Hardening Soil and HS-Small. The geotechnical parameters used as input data for the numerical model were determined based on in situ soil investigations and using new proposed correlations described in [1]. The numerical model results in terms of horizontal displacements of the diaphragm walls supporting the deep excavation were compared to the measured displacements obtained from 2 inclinometers. Based on these results useful conclusions regarding the validity of the proposed correlations are drawn. This paper is part of wider doctoral research regarding correlations between in situ tests and geotechnical parameters.
