In this paper we will analyze the value orientation of Romanians, starting from the indicators from the Word Values Survey (is a global network of social scientists studying changing values and their impact on social and political life) which are based on the value change model of R. Inglehart (2005). The author configures a cultural map of the world, based on two axes: traditional values versus secular-rational values and survival values versus self-expression values. Starting from these axes, the author identifies the orientations of the predominant values of the societies. In Romania, the traditional and survival values are more specific, so the orientation towards the acceptance of different ones is weaker, including what concerns gender values. As a result, stereotypes, including gender stereotypes, still work.
