Clustered regulatory interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) technology is a novel and one of the most promising gene editing methods. Here we review the current research on the use of CRISPR/Cas9 technology to edit the genomes of mice, rabbits, pigs, sheep, goats, and cattle, as well as current obstacles and perspectives that may arise thanks to this technology.
