<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The purpose of this paper is to review the legislation framework in the field of work-based learning (WBL), conducted in six European countries: Romania, Poland, Portugal, Germany, Bulgaria and Cyprus. The scope is to identify the policies and the legal framework set, or lack of such, in the field of WBL. A comparative analysis between formal regulations is done. Finally, policy recommendations for performing of evidence-based policy in the field of WBL are formulated: specific legislation for WBL, quality assurance of WBL programmes, incentives for employers participating in WBL programmes.</p></abstract>
