There is a 4 mm thick mildly hypoechoic eccentric thickening of the CCA medial wall (thin arrow) causing restriction to the vessel lumen, consistent with an intramural hematoma (calipers). There is no Doppler signal in the hematoma (B), suggesting the absence of a false lumen. Axial B-mode US image (C) a few minutes later, showing the hematoma (calipers) extending cephalad and measuring 2 mm in thickness.
