<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p> New data about the distribution of selected species of family Heleomyzidae (Diptera) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are given. <italic>Scoliocentra (Leriola) nigrinervis </italic>(Wahlgren, 1918) and <italic>Suillia cepelaki </italic>Martinek, 1985 are recorded for the first time from the Czech Republic and <italic>Orbellia cuniculorum </italic>Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 is a new addition to the fauna of Slovakia. New records of three rare species of the genus <italic>Suillia</italic>, viz. <italic>S. variegata </italic>(Loew, 1862), <italic>S. gigantea</italic> (Meigen, 1830) and <italic>S. oxyphora </italic>(Mik, 1900) from the Czech Republic are presented. The habitat association and the attraction of adults of some species to bait used in traps are discussed.</p></abstract>
