<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>A new classification of the subtribe Maxillariinae (Orchidaceae) is proposed. Thirty-seven genera are revised. The <italic>Camaridium </italic>group is divided into seven genera, <italic>Adamanthus</italic>, <italic>Camaridium, Pseudomaxillaria</italic>, <italic>Psittacoglossum </italic>and three described here: <italic>Chaseopsis</italic>, <italic>Chelyella </italic>and <italic>Viracocha</italic>. <italic>Ornithidium </italic>s.l. is divided into seven genera: <italic>Heterotaxis, Laricorchis,</italic><italic>Neo-urbania, Nitidobulbon, Ornithidium</italic>, <italic>Vazquezella </italic>and <italic>Aucellia</italic>, the latter two described here. 193 new combinations on the species level are validated and the relationships among the genera are briefly discussed. A key to the determination of all genera representing Maxillariinae s. s. is provided.</p></abstract>
