<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p> Modifications were made to the automatic smoking machine for rapid series analyses which is now suitable for the smoking of 30 cigarettes. The efficiency of the generator producing the electrostatic field is adapted to the requirements of the new device. The results obtained by 4-year routine examinations are satisfactory. The results furnished by the smoking of larger quantities of non-selected cigarettes are nearly as good as those obtained by the smoking of a smaller number of selected cigarettes</p></abstract>
