<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>Based on previous literature and our own collections, we list 285 bryophyte species (142 liverworts, 143 mosses) from the Taita Hills region (including Mt. Kasigau and Maktau Hill) in SE Kenya. New records for Kenya include the liverworts <italic>Archilejeunea elobulata</italic> Steph., <italic>Bazzania nitida</italic> (F. Weber) Grolle, <italic>Cololejeunea grossepapillosa</italic> (Horik.) N. Kitag., <italic>Diplasiolejeunea kraussiana</italic> (Lindenb.) Steph., <italic>D. villaumei</italic> Steph., <italic>Lejeunea amaniensis</italic> E.W. Jones, <italic>L. cyathearum</italic> E.W. Jones, <italic>Lopholejeunea laciniata</italic> E.W. Jones, <italic>Metzgeria crassipilis</italic> (Lindb.) A. Evans, <italic>M. nudifrons</italic> Steph., <italic>Plagiochila boryana</italic> (F. Weber) Nees, and <italic>P. moenkemeyeri</italic> Steph., and the mosses <italic>Leucophanes hildebrandtii</italic> Müll. Hal. and <italic>Neckeromnion lepineanum</italic> (Mont.) S. Olsson, Enroth, Huttunen &amp; D. Quandt. A further 22 liverworts and 13 mosses previously known from other parts of Kenya are reported for the first time from the Taita Hills region.</p></abstract>
