<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<p>Numerous marine fishes from the Algerian coast were examined for nematode parasites. Our study revealed five species of nematodes that were identified according to morphological characteristics: <italic>Anisakis</italic> <italic>simplex</italic>, <italic>Hysterothylacium aduncum</italic>, <italic>Hysterothylacium reliquens</italic>, <italic>Hysterothylacium fabri</italic>, <italic>Dichelyne pleuronectidis</italic>. <italic>D. pleuronectidis </italic>was newly collected from the study region. Four new host species were recorded for <italic>A. simplex</italic>, six for <italic>H. aduncum</italic>, and three for <italic>H. fabri</italic>. The infection rates observed were higher for <italic>Hysterothylacium </italic>and <italic>Dichelyne </italic>than <italic>Anisakis. </italic>The highest infection rate by Nematoda parasites were recorded for <italic>Trachinus draco </italic>L.<italic>, Pagellus acarne </italic>(Risso) and <italic>Mullus barbatus </italic>L. (P = 100%, P = 53.33%, P = 42.5%), respectively. Nematoda larvae were found in body cavity and musculature. Histological changes associated with nematode musculature infestation revealed myodegeneration of fibers with a loss of striated texture and skin damage.</p>
