<p>Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is found in most Gram-negative bacteria and induces innate responses by binding to toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). LPS isolated from <italic>Pantoea agglomerans</italic> species is an interesting issue. On the one hand, it is a risk factor for diseases such as wounds, abscess, bacteremia, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis and peritonitis. On the other, its health-promoting properties in atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and osteoporosis are increasingly observed. Studies in humans and animal models show that LPS from <italic>P. agglomerans</italic> may have beneficial effects in the treatment of certain diseases. A huge challenge today is the prevention and treatment of skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis (AD), allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), and hard-to-heal wounds. Reports show that LPS from <italic>P. agglomerans</italic> may be useful in the treatment of skin diseases through its effects on the immune response. Studies show that LPS acts on Langerhans cells and leads to suppression of the allergic response.</p>

<p>Lipopolisacharyd (LPS) występuje w większości bakterii Gram-ujemnych i indukuje wrodzoną odpowiedź immunologiczną poprzez wiązanie się z receptorem Toll-podobnym 4 (TLR4). Interesującym zagadnieniem jest LPS wyizolowany z gatunku <italic>Pantoea agglomerans</italic>. Z jednej strony stanowi czynnik ryzyka chorób takich jak rany, ropień, bakteriemia, zapalenie płuc, infekcje dróg moczowych, septyczne zapalenie stawów, zapalenie kości i szpiku oraz zapalenie otrzewnej. Z drugiej strony coraz częściej obserwuje się jego właściwości prozdrowotne w miażdżycy, chorobie Alzheimera i osteoporozie. Badania na ludziach i modelach zwierzęcych pokazują, że LPS z <italic>P. agglomerans</italic> może mieć korzystne działanie w leczeniu niektórych chorób. Ogromnym wyzwaniem jest dziś zapobieganie i leczenie chorób skóry, w tym atopowego zapalenia skóry, alergicznego kontaktowego zapalenia skóry i trudno gojących się ran. Badania pokazują, że LPS z <italic>P. agglomerans</italic> może być przydatny w leczeniu chorób skóry poprzez wpływ na odpowiedź immunologiczną. Badania pokazują, że LPS działa na komórki Langerhansa i prowadzi do tłumienia odpowiedzi alergicznej.</p>
