<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>The present work deals with the synthesis of some novel heterocyclic compounds such as benzoxazoles , <bold>7</bold>, <bold>13 </bold>and <bold>19</bold>, imidazoles <bold>3</bold>, <bold>8</bold>, <bold>14 </bold>and <bold>20</bold>, benzimidazoles <bold>4</bold>, <bold>9</bold>, <bold>15</bold> and <bold>21</bold>, and tetrazoles <bold>10</bold>, <bold>16</bold>, and <bold>22</bold>. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The compounds were evaluated for cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines such as MCF-7 (breast cancer) and HT-29 (colon cancer) by the MTT assay method. Among the tested compounds, 4,4’-sulfonylbis(N-(2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol- -2-yl)ethyl)aniline (<bold>9</bold>), N-bis(2-(benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)-ethyl)- 6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine (<bold>13</bold>), N-bis(2-(1H-benzo[ d]imidazol-2-yl)ethyl)-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine (<bold>15</bold>) and N-tris(2-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)ethyl)- 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine (<bold>21</bold>) showed potent cytotoxicity.</p></abstract>
