<abstract xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p>This study supplements the original description of <italic>Synodontella zambezensis</italic> Douëllou et Chishawa, 1995 and represents a new geographical record for this parasite from <italic>Synodontis zambezensis</italic> from South Africa. The revision is based on morphometric characteristics and molecular data. Characterisation of LSU, partial SSU and ITS1 rDNA represents a first record of DNA sequencing for <italic>Synodontella</italic> species.</p></abstract>
