Abstrakt

Abstract

The aim of this research is to summarize the safety measures related to the application of welding robots, as well as to apply them in the ÓE-Cloos Robot Welding Laboratory of Bánki Faculty at Óbuda University. This article describes the safety requirements for welding robot systems, the requirements for commissioning and safe operation. The concluding part of the dissertation presents the preparation and implementation of the installation of a new robot cell in the laboratory.

Predictor-Corrector Interior-Point Algorithm for the General Linear Complementarity Problem

Abstrakt

Abstract

We study a predictor-corrector interior-point algorithm for solving general linear complementarity problems from the implementation point of view. We analyze the method proposed by Illés, Nagy and Terlaky [1] that extends the algorithm published by Potra and Liu [2] to general linear complementarity problems. A new method for determining the step size of the corrector direction is presented. Using the code implemented in the C++ programming language, we can solve large-scale problems based on sufficient matrices.

We present a path-following interior-point algorithm for solving the weighted linear complementarity problem from the implementation point of view. We studied two variants, which differ only in the method of updating the parameter which characterizes the central path. The implementation was done in the C++ programming language and the obtained numerical results prove the efficiency of the proposed method.

Development of a Mechatronic System for Demonstration Purposes

Abstrakt

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present a modular system, with the help of which it is possible to reveal the structure and analysis of a mechatronic system, taking into account several disciplines that contribute to the structure of the system. The planned system will include devices from different disciplines, the operation and coordination of which will be observable. The designed system is a two-degree-of-freedom mechanism with a translational and a rotary joint. The movement of the joints are obtained by different types of energy converters (pneumatic, electric). The replacement of the different types of drives can be performed quickly and easily without drastically changing the system setup. The simulations are implemented using the MATLAB Simscape software package.

A Comparison between a Classical and a Modified Root Fillet

Abstrakt

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper consists in improving the rigidity of the gear tooth by applying various root fillet forms that differ from the classical 0.38m radius circle arc. During the research the necessity of the re-formulation of the undercut appeared. It appears much later in case of applying rounded addendum edge planing comb as in case of using a classic generating profile tool. Therefore, the limits of the profile shifting can be significantly extended without weakening the tooth dedendum.

The paper presents the stress repartitions under equal load, which occur on classic teeth, and on teeth having a modified root fillet. In this last case, the modified root fillet is the envelope of the curve family constituted by the rounded edge curves, in the relative motion of the comb related to the cut gear.

Investigation of the Force Vectors Acting on the Potato in the Clamping Finger Type Dosing System of a Potato Planter

Abstract

The operational accuracy of the dosing system of the potato planting machine influences the planting plant spacing, and indirectly the crop yield. The operating accuracy depends on the design of the dosing system, its kinematics and the forces acting on the planting tubers. This dissertation presents the force vectors acting on the potato in the dosing system of the guided clamping finger type potato planting machine and their spatial motion during the dosing process. Examination of the vectors reveals the improved possibilities of tuber fixation.

MP-9S Industrial Manipulator Handling and Scrapping Tasks in Industrial Environments

Abstrakt

Abstract

The main goal of the project was to carry out a handling task using a color sensor and thermal sensor, as well as an industrial robotic unit. The selection by color made it possible to represent the sub-process of the production of a sample, where each color can be matched to the corresponding or rejected product. The function of the thermal sensor is to show the delay function for the pro-cess, which occurs when the product does not reach a point in the process at the wrong tempera-ture and needs cooling between the two workflows. The thermal sensor and color sensor were pro-grammed using the ATmega microprocessor, while the manipulator was controlled with industrial PLC. The completed project will serve educational purposes in training for students.

Control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in Simulink

Abstract

Nowadays, before the era of modern Steer-by-wire steering systems, the most widely used steering technology is Electric Power Steering (EPS). This paper contains the developing of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) control circuit for EPS systems, in Matlab Simulink environment. The mathematical model of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor was created via the four equations that represent the relation between the fluxes, voltages and currents in d-q reference frame and the motor torque equation. Mathematical transformations are required to generate the equivalent input values of the model from analog input waves. In this way, the embedded software is able to communicate with the motor through the analog input and output signals. The control model was also tested in a physically implemented system. The control software is executed on a dSpace AutoBox hardware. The output interface block creates the output phase voltages specified by the control module, and the input interface block allows the phase currents generated by the output voltage to be measured back.

Development of a Complex Treatment Process for Recycling Household Laundry Water

Abstrakt

Abstract

The goal of our research is to study the treatment possibilities of the laundry water fraction of domestic greywater as an alternative water source, as well as to apply a complex treatment method with which we obtain purified greywater. This treated water can be used during household tasks that do not require drinking water. By optimizing each treatment step, we determined a complex process with the following steps: coagulation- quartz sand filtration-oxidation. We also investigated the usability of purified greywater for irrigation by performing a standardized seedling test and determining the SAR factor. In conclusion, based on the measured and analysed water analytical parameters, we have successfully applied an appropriate complex treatment method, using optimal amounts of chemicals, which according to international recommendations can be potentially reused at household level, and can also be used for irrigation purposes.

The topic of this study is the optical inspection of CPVC fitting elbows concerning the geometric parameters that can be detected in 2 dimensions. Based on the evaluation of the results, fault diagnosis has been set up for the production line by statistical calculations. The optical inspection was carried out in the Vision Development Module software environment produced by National Instruments, and the data were evaluated using Microsoft Excel.

Nowadays, mobile applications are developed for more and more areas, providing great help for our everyday lives. When designing a mobile application, the first important decision to make is to choose the targeted platform. Is it only phone or tablet as well? Should the app run on Android or iOS, or should it be available on both mobile operating systems? In the latter case, besides the native development environments, it is worth considering a cross-platform development environment to write the software. This study investigates both the development and performance aspects of some possibilities for iOS application development, namely, native iOS development in Xcode, Xamarin.iOS, and Xamarin.Forms frameworks.

Development of an Active Aerodynamic System for a Racing Motorcycle

Abstract

MotoStudent is an engineering and economic competition for students to build a motorcycle that will take part in a real race on the Motorland Aragon track in Spain. The Kenji Racing Team, a student team from John von Neumann University, has been participating in this competition since 2016. The design of the motorcycle must be accurately documented towards to the competition organization, and economic and engineering tasks must be solved for the teams. In terms of engineering work, the development of innovation applied on the electric motorcycle is of paramount importance. Nowadays, one of the most popular development areas in motorsport is aerodynamics. Nevertheless, there are few studies about active aerodynamic systems. In our research we present the aerodynamics of motorcycles and the effect of passive and active wing systems on driving dynamics. With this knowledge, we detail the design steps of an active wing system.

Curvature Measurement of Thin Plates with the Help of Digital Image Processing

Abstrakt

Abstract

The verification of different plate bending problems require a punctual measurement method of the bent shape. However, with a proper curvature measurement procedure the calculations can be made more accurate. This is due to the workaround this method provides by neglecting the inaccuracies of the beam theory and the tensile tests, measuring directly the function between the curvature and bending moment for a given sheet metal. The measurements in this paper are made with the help of a digital camera and telephotographic lens. The evaluations of these images are compared to the results obtained from the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. While the results regarding the curvature measurements have a significant deviation, the shape of the plate is in good agreement with the numerical calculations.

Cardiovascular disease has been decimating humanity for decades. In vivo examination of blood vessels is of great help in the development of numerical models and simulations that can help physicians significantly improve sufferers’ quality of life. For such models, the different mechanical characteristics of the vessels are the input data. Several such mechanical properties of the vessels, such as modulus of elasticity and tensile strength, are determined by a tensile test. In the course of our research, an experimental device was developed and tested which is suitable for biaxial tensile tests of blood vessels, which we present through the examination of chicken blood vessels.

The Developement of a New Shoulder Joint Prothesis System

Abstract

In our work, we designed a new metal-polymer shoulder implant system that fully meets today’s requirements - minimal invasive technology, a high degree of modularity - and can be personalized as needed. At the same time, its production does not exceed the currently available production technologies. Also, the data and parameters which are needed to design the tailor-made construction are easily accessible, as we have chosen a device that is widespread and commonplace in medical diagnostics and available in any hospital. Furthermore, we have tried to make our system as easy and fast to authorize as possible because it is challenging to place medical devices on the market, especially implants. We have tried to create the cheapest, most economical system and in addition, we wanted to gain the trust of implant specialists, as we incorporated their insights and experiences into our construction through continuous consultation.

Analysis of the Treatment of Synthetic Bathing Waters and Their Effects on Seedlings

Abstract

Synthetically produced bathing waters and their effect on seedlings were analysed in our research. The artificially produced bath waters were treated in different ways. Primarily, simple filtration was performed through a layer of silica sand. During the tests, the obtained greywater was investigated before and after the treatment with the help of various water quality parameters. Irrigation was set as the goal of recycling, and germination experiments were performed on mustard seeds. In these experiments, the synthetically generated treated and untreated bath water was used as irrigation water. Considering the results obtained during the germination, it can be said that the treatment is necessary in any case. Based on the results, it was shown that the filtration was not sufficient, so coagulation was used as an additional treatment method, for which we determined the optimal amount of treatment agent as a starting step.

Six DOF Robotic Arm Prototype Modelling By Matlab

Abstract

The study in this paper allows us to control the manipulator and achieve any desired position and orientation. The Forward Kinematics was done using Denavait Hartenberg (DH) parameters, also the forward kinematics equations and homogenous transformation matrix was validated using MATLAB Toolbox. The modeling was carried out using the Peter Corke robotics toolbox.

Finally, the forward kinematic study and the robot arm’s movement equations were compared with practical measurements to make sure it fulfilled the desired purpose and that it could point to the desired coordinates with a precision of ±0.5 cm.

Thanks to technological development, and the more and more strict environmental regulations, electric and hybrid vehicles are playing an increasingly important role in road transport. An important part of these vehicles is the electric motor, which has several different types that are applied in modern vehicles. To perform the simulation of the motors, it is important to measure their basic electromagnetic and dynamic parameters, since they are usually not provided by the manufacturers. For the above measurements a complex measuring system is needed. This motor test bench is also suitable for the static and dynamic testing of different types of electric motors. In this publication the layout of our own developed test bench is presented.

Method for Efficient Regeneration of Solvent Mixture: Extractive Heterogeneous-Azeotropic Distillation

The fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries use large amounts of various organic solvents in their manufacturing processes. By reusing them, production costs can be significantly reduced. If we can regenerate waste solvent mixtures, we have the opportunity to reuse them in the production process or in other production processes. Our study illustrates an efficient regeneration process using the example of a four-component solvent mixture. Calculations were performed in a professional process simulator to demonstrate that the highly non-ideal Water-Ethyl Alcohol-Methyl Ethyl Ketone-Ethyl Acetate solvent mixture can be efficiently decomposed into azeotropic pairs and thus regenerated by the extractive heterogeneous-azeotropic distillation technique.

Abstract

Nowadays, there is an increasing emphasis on the problem of water quality. Of the many polluting effects, oil pollution is perhaps the most harmful, but its effects are being studied mostly on large seas and oceans worldwide. In the case of Transylvania and probably the entire country, pollution of rivers by oil – based on yearly occurrence – has a larger effect than that of sea pollution. Every year we observe 40-55 such water pollution events, therefore, analysis and investigation of solution methods is of great importance. This paper attempts to shed light on this issue, presenting also the method currently used by the Romanian Water Authority.

Development of a Complex Treatment Process for Recycling Household Laundry Water

Abstrakt

Abstract

The goal of our research is to study the treatment possibilities of the laundry water fraction of domestic greywater as an alternative water source, as well as to apply a complex treatment method with which we obtain purified greywater. This treated water can be used during household tasks that do not require drinking water. By optimizing each treatment step, we determined a complex process with the following steps: coagulation- quartz sand filtration-oxidation. We also investigated the usability of purified greywater for irrigation by performing a standardized seedling test and determining the SAR factor. In conclusion, based on the measured and analysed water analytical parameters, we have successfully applied an appropriate complex treatment method, using optimal amounts of chemicals, which according to international recommendations can be potentially reused at household level, and can also be used for irrigation purposes.

Based on the evaluation of the results, fault diagnosis has been set up for the production line by statistical calculations. The optical inspection was carried out in the Vision Development Module software environment produced by National Instruments, and the data were evaluated using Microsoft Excel.

Nowadays, mobile applications are developed for more and more areas, providing great help for our everyday lives. When designing a mobile application, the first important decision to make is to choose the targeted platform. Is it only phone or tablet as well? Should the app run on Android or iOS, or should it be available on both mobile operating systems? In the latter case, besides the native development environments, it is worth considering a cross-platform development environment to write the software. This study investigates both the development and performance aspects of some possibilities for iOS application development, namely, native iOS development in Xcode, Xamarin.iOS, and Xamarin.Forms frameworks.

MotoStudent is an engineering and economic competition for students to build a motorcycle that will take part in a real race on the Motorland Aragon track in Spain. The Kenji Racing Team, a student team from John von Neumann University, has been participating in this competition since 2016. The design of the motorcycle must be accurately documented towards to the competition organization, and economic and engineering tasks must be solved for the teams. In terms of engineering work, the development of innovation applied on the electric motorcycle is of paramount importance. Nowadays, one of the most popular development areas in motorsport is aerodynamics. Nevertheless, there are few studies about active aerodynamic systems. In our research we present the aerodynamics of motorcycles and the effect of passive and active wing systems on driving dynamics. With this knowledge, we detail the design steps of an active wing system.

Curvature Measurement of Thin Plates with the Help of Digital Image Processing

Abstrakt

Abstract

The verification of different plate bending problems require a punctual measurement method of the bent shape. However, with a proper curvature measurement procedure the calculations can be made more accurate. This is due to the workaround this method provides by neglecting the inaccuracies of the beam theory and the tensile tests, measuring directly the function between the curvature and bending moment for a given sheet metal. The measurements in this paper are made with the help of a digital camera and telephotographic lens. The evaluations of these images are compared to the results obtained from the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. While the results regarding the curvature measurements have a significant deviation, the shape of the plate is in good agreement with the numerical calculations.

Cardiovascular disease has been decimating humanity for decades. In vivo examination of blood vessels is of great help in the development of numerical models and simulations that can help physicians significantly improve sufferers’ quality of life. For such models, the different mechanical characteristics of the vessels are the input data. Several such mechanical properties of the vessels, such as modulus of elasticity and tensile strength, are determined by a tensile test. In the course of our research, an experimental device was developed and tested which is suitable for biaxial tensile tests of blood vessels, which we present through the examination of chicken blood vessels.

In our work, we designed a new metal-polymer shoulder implant system that fully meets today’s requirements - minimal invasive technology, a high degree of modularity - and can be personalized as needed. At the same time, its production does not exceed the currently available production technologies. Also, the data and parameters which are needed to design the tailor-made construction are easily accessible, as we have chosen a device that is widespread and commonplace in medical diagnostics and available in any hospital. Furthermore, we have tried to make our system as easy and fast to authorize as possible because it is challenging to place medical devices on the market, especially implants. We have tried to create the cheapest, most economical system and in addition, we wanted to gain the trust of implant specialists, as we incorporated their insights and experiences into our construction through continuous consultation.

Analysis of the Treatment of Synthetic Bathing Waters and Their Effects on Seedlings

Abstract

Synthetically produced bathing waters and their effect on seedlings were analysed in our research. The artificially produced bath waters were treated in different ways. Primarily, simple filtration was performed through a layer of silica sand. During the tests, the obtained greywater was investigated before and after the treatment with the help of various water quality parameters. Irrigation was set as the goal of recycling, and germination experiments were performed on mustard seeds. In these experiments, the synthetically generated treated and untreated bath water was used as irrigation water. Considering the results obtained during the germination, it can be said that the treatment is necessary in any case. Based on the results, it was shown that the filtration was not sufficient, so coagulation was used as an additional treatment method, for which we determined the optimal amount of treatment agent as a starting step.

The study in this paper allows us to control the manipulator and achieve any desired position and orientation. The Forward Kinematics was done using Denavait Hartenberg (DH) parameters, also the forward kinematics equations and homogenous transformation matrix was validated using MATLAB Toolbox. The modeling was carried out using the Peter Corke robotics toolbox.

Finally, the forward kinematic study and the robot arm’s movement equations were compared with practical measurements to make sure it fulfilled the desired purpose and that it could point to the desired coordinates with a precision of ±0.5 cm.

Thanks to technological development, and the more and more strict environmental regulations, electric and hybrid vehicles are playing an increasingly important role in road transport. An important part of these vehicles is the electric motor, which has several different types that are applied in modern vehicles. To perform the simulation of the motors, it is important to measure their basic electromagnetic and dynamic parameters, since they are usually not provided by the manufacturers. For the above measurements a complex measuring system is needed. This motor test bench is also suitable for the static and dynamic testing of different types of electric motors. In this publication the layout of our own developed test bench is presented.

Method for Efficient Regeneration of Solvent Mixture: Extractive Heterogeneous-Azeotropic Distillation

The fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries use large amounts of various organic solvents in their manufacturing processes. By reusing them, production costs can be significantly reduced. If we can regenerate waste solvent mixtures, we have the opportunity to reuse them in the production process or in other production processes. Our study illustrates an efficient regeneration process using the example of a four-component solvent mixture. Calculations were performed in a professional process simulator to demonstrate that the highly non-ideal Water-Ethyl Alcohol-Methyl Ethyl Ketone-Ethyl Acetate solvent mixture can be efficiently decomposed into azeotropic pairs and thus regenerated by the extractive heterogeneous-azeotropic distillation technique.

Nowadays, there is an increasing emphasis on the problem of water quality. Of the many polluting effects, oil pollution is perhaps the most harmful, but its effects are being studied mostly on large seas and oceans worldwide. In the case of Transylvania and probably the entire country, pollution of rivers by oil – based on yearly occurrence – has a larger effect than that of sea pollution. Every year we observe 40-55 such water pollution events, therefore, analysis and investigation of solution methods is of great importance. This paper attempts to shed light on this issue, presenting also the method currently used by the Romanian Water Authority.
