Romanian Journal of Psychoanalysis

The Romanian Journal of Psychoanalysis (RJP) is a scientific publication having as it’s objective, psychoanalysis as a theory, as a method of treatment, as a means of knowing the psyche and the human mind and its products. RJP is therefore relevant for colleagues working professionally in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, as well as psychology, medicine, and related fields, but also for the general public given that psychoanalysis aims to provide answers to fundamental questions about human nature, the reality of everyday life, our own understanding and that of others etc.

The journal was founded in 2008 under the aegis of the Romanian Society of Psychoanalysis, Component Society of the International Association of Psychoanalysis and it became one of the most important Romanian journasl in the field of psychology, regarded from the point of view of academic and clinical quality, international exchange and continuity. It is, also, one of the most important psychoanalytical publications in Eastern Europe, that appeared in one of the countries where psychoanalysis and freedom of speech had been banned by the communist regime.

RJP has two issues per year (June and December), publishing original psychoanalytical contributions of authors from all over the world. The contributions of scholars and highly regarded psychoanalysts cover a wide range of the psychoanalytical domain　from Theoretical and Clinical Psychoanalysis, Training and Education, Research, Child and Adolescence Psychoanalysis, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Applied Psychoanalysis, to book and film reviews. Its pages bring together contributions of well-known specialists from countries with a great tradition in psychoanalytic research, theory and practice: England, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Hungary etc. coming from different schools of psychoanalysis and various cultural fields - depending on the topic of each editorial issue. Articles published in RJP are original papers, un-published before.

The Scientific Board of the journal consists of respected psychoanalysts coming from Romania, many teaching in Universities, and from various other countries.

The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, being fully reviewed by an international committee.

RJP is indexed in international databases such as EBSCO, Urlich’s Periodical Directory, CSA, Scipio and it’s the first Romanian publication included in PEPweb. Starting with issue 2/2017, each article has a DOI code.

Starting with issue 1/2018 it will be accessible in electronic form only.

Aims and Scope

The main goal of the Romanian Journal of Psychoanalysis is to promote psychoanalysis in the international academic and professional environment in order to contribute to sustainable education and development.

In the meantime, it is in our objective to open the mind of psychoanalysts to qualitative research reports, to debates and interregional dialogue as well as to make psychoanalysis more visible as a social and humanistic discipline, that can be involved and offer deep and valuable understanding on the human being, relations, generational transmission, real goals for individuals and for communities, too, meanings and bases for tolerance and dialogue.

In concrete terms, RJP’s main objectives are:

• to publish research papers from a broad range of contemporary theoretical and clinical psychoanalysis;
• to encourage and support the international and national psychoanalytical perspective in the academic and scientific fields;
• to promote disciplinary and trans-disciplinary dialogue;
• to open the space for debates;
• to facilitate inter and trans-disciplinary exchanges;
• to put together different cultural and social experiences reported and analyzed psychoanalytically.

Therefore, the RJP aims are to provide a professional setting in which teachers, thinkers, clinicians and prestigious researchers from throughout the world can present the results of their reflections, understandings, clinical experience and research results.

The publication of this journal focuses on the training and improvement of specialists in the field and also on finding real opportunities for future collaborations with specialists from universities and research institutes at an international level.

Psychoanalysis is well known for its seriousness for an appropriate frame and ethics, so that the Journal is constantly preoccupied to rise and deepen the way in which all these experiences are recorded and transmitted (confidentiality, for clinical materials, originality of ideas, open association and free and meaningful dialogue).
