Folia Horticulturae is an international, scientific journal published in English. It covers a broad research spectrum of aspects related to horticultural science that are of interest to a wide scientific community and have an impact on progress in both basic and applied research carried out with the use of horticultural crops and their products. The journal’s aim is to disseminate recent findings and serve as a forum for presenting views as well as for discussing important problems and prospects of modern horticulture, particularly in relation to sustainable production of high yield and quality of horticultural products, including their impact on human health.
The articles should concern any of the main groups of horticultural crops i.e., fruits, vegetables, herbal and medicinal plants, ornamental plants, and landscape plants. They should present novel and scientifically sound results or reviews relevant to a broad community. Interdisciplinary articles combining aspects of crop production, plant protection, breeding, seed science, post-harvest technology and food technology are welcome. These applied aspects can be supported by basic research in biochemistry, plant physiology, biotechnology and genetics. Particular interest is given to articles dealing with plant production with the aim of products with a higher quality and of high importance for human health. Comparisons of sustainable production techniques with the use of conventional, organic and biotechnologically improved crops as well as global social and economic aspects of horticulture may be presented.

Editorial Policy
The Authors are fully responsible for the content and correctness of the presented information. By submitting the manuscript the Authors unequivocally state that the text and data are original and that any part of the manuscript has been not published elsewhere nor submitted elsewhere to be considered for publication, unless as an abstract or preliminary note. If the manuscript contains any materials published in other sources, the appropriate agreement from the publisher must be provided. Folia Horticulturae acts and publishes upon agreements only with a corresponding Author who is solely and fully responsible for representing all co-authors, if any, and may act on their behalf. The Authors transfer copyrights to the Polish Society for Horticultural Science. During online manuscript submission Authors state that they read and accept requirements of Licence to Publish. Licence to Publish is available online at journal website (download LtoP).
Ethical Guidelines
Folia Horticulturae has implemented policies against dishonesty and unethical publishing practice. To protect against ghostwriting (an author is not included in the list of authors nor mentioned in acknowledgements) and guest authorship (the impact of an author is meaningless or none) the Authors are obliged to declare that the submitted material is original, written by the stated authors, has not been published before and contains neither unlawful statements nor infringes the rights of third parties. The Authors are also responsible for providing any necessary written permissions to quote any materials that have been published before in other sources.
Folia Horticulturae implements a multi-step process involving an internal evaluation of each submission as well as an external evaluation by independent reviewers, who remain blind to the Authors. The evaluations aim in ensuring the originality of the texts and the presented data. Any conflict of interests between a reviewer and authors, as well as between a reviewer or authors and research founding body is documented and will be disclosed.
Any experimental research on animals or with the use of animals, clinical trials or any other research requiring legal consent must follow internationally recognized guidelines and approved by the appropriate body. Such information must be included in the Material and Methods section.

If the submission is not complete, i.e., does not contain all of the required files, the cover letter is incomplete or the manuscript does not meet the requirements according to the ‘Instructions for Authors’, the manuscript is not registered and the corresponding Author is notified and asked for a new complete submission.
Evaluation
Once registered, the manuscript is pre-evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors who decide whether the manuscript can be further considered for publication in Folia Horticulturae. Positively identified manuscripts are sent to independent reviewers and screened using the CrossCheck System as described in the section “Manuscript review process” above. The Authors are notified by e-mail on each Editor’s decision.
Production
The accepted manuscript is directed to the production process where it is edited to comply with the standards of Folia Horticulturae and independently corrected by a native English speaking Editor to ensure high English standards. The corresponding Author receives the edited manuscript with traceable changes for acceptance and has the possibility to answer the Editor’s comments, which must be done within seven days. After the Author’s acceptance, the galley proof is prepared and sent to the corresponding Author for final acceptance due within three working days. After the Author’s final acceptance, further changes to the text are not possible. The accepted paper is published online on the journal web page with a non-restricted access to the full text.
