Disaster risk management: management framework and technical process of settling disaster damage claims

Published Online: 01 Feb 2020
Page range: 1 - 12

Abstract

Abstract

Risk assessments are performed at multiple scales, from the global level to the community levels. These levels have their own spatial data objectives and requirements for hazard inventories, environmental data, triggers or causal factors and risk elements. The new catastrophic risk management systems include multiple approaches: i.e. vulnerability related approach, indicator-driven approaches, multiple risk approaches and spatial risk visualization. Multi-risk assessment is a complicated procedure that requires spatial data on several different aspects and a multidisciplinary approach. This paper provides an overview of the catastrophic risk management framework and the technical process for settling claims.

Integrated Reporting Performance – Effect of Organizational Behavior Development

Published Online: 01 Feb 2020
Page range: 13 - 20

Abstract

Abstract

The effects of the economic crisis and the numerous financial failures of major companies call into question the reliability of financial reporting, which is considered insufficient in reflecting the clear and complete picture of performance, assessed in financial, environmental and social dimensions. In order to obtain an integrate report, it is necessary to combine both financial and non-financial information. Non-financial reporting supports and complements the classic ones, but the complexity of the information provided must also be taken into account, as the phenomenon of opacity may occur, not only due to lack of transparency but also due to difficulty of understanding by users and producer of financial information. Therefore, in the context of long-term global interests, to support sustainable development it becomes important to bring to the research area the identification of the current stage of implementation of integrated reporting with the exemplification of the ranking of sustainability reports of companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE).

Gaps and preliminary perspectives concerning innovation infrastructure in the Carpathian Countries

Published Online: 01 Feb 2020
Page range: 21 - 30

Abstract

Abstract

Innovation, although still an emerging concept in terms of development policies, is no longer abstract, being defined, measured and assessed by performance indicators, thus managing to shape the global economy and also entrepreneurial dynamics at territorial level. Using as main source of documentation the “Global Innovation Index 2020” Report, this paper seeks to highlight by using quantitative statistical methods the innovation performance of the Parties of the Carpathian Convention with a deep focus on innovation infrastructure, measured by 10 performance indicators.

Research regarding creditworthiness estimation for bond issuers listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange

Published Online: 01 Feb 2020
Page range: 41 - 46

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to test the resilience of issuers to the financial pressure generated by the commitments made in connection with the issuance of debt instruments (bonds) and to identify issuers whose financial position and performance present the susceptibility of a major default risk. The research actions involved determining the indicators specific to the fundamental analysis, applying the classic insolvency risk assessment models (Altman and Conan Holder) and assessing the future evolution of the key financial indicators on the basis of the forecasts. The results obtained confirm or disprove the existence of significant uncertainties regarding the ability to repay the bond loans.

Comparative study on the dynamics and structure of the number of enterprises in Poland, Romania and Hungary

Published Online: 01 Feb 2020
Page range: 47 - 57

Abstract

Abstract

The number of enterprises, respectively their structure by fields of activity, influences the level of the national economy, so it is extremely important to know the “map” of economic agents in terms of evolution and level of competition by areas of activity. The purpose of this paper is to present in a descriptive way the evolution of the number and structure of active enterprises in Romania (by legal form and field of activity), as well as a comparative presentation of the situation of enterprises in Hungary and Poland. In all three countries, the total number of enterprises shows a continuous growth trend, but with significant differences in the growth rate, analyzed by areas of activity.
