Wissen als Faktor der Leitbildgenerierung in der Metropolregion Berlin-Brandenburg – Strategien, Optionen, Konflikte

Published Online: 30 Nov 2007
Page range: 489 - 501

Abstract

Abstract

Within the ongoing discourse on issues of spatial models and strategies for the development in urban regions knowledge becomes more and more significant. Knowledge based selfdescriptions, images and positionings are relevant for relational spatial concepts and developments because knowledge is regarded in the meantime as an important locational factor. With the case studies of the European Metropolitan Region Berlin-Brandenburg and the Knowledge City Berlin-Adlershof this article looks into the strategies, options, conflicts and conditions that can be figured out during the process of the emergence of models and for the knowledge based development in urban regions.

Published Online: 30 Nov 2007
Page range: 502 - 513

Abstract

Abstract

The article deals with the co-operation of different players in the context of regional touristic development processes. Initially the meaning of touristic co-operation is presented, differentiated according to advantages, task areas and obstacles. In the further course the text considers the issue of the success factors of touristic co-operation while the assignment of tasks, the constitution of the co-operative boards, the partners and the self-monitoring in the process are highlighted. Finally – after a brief digression to the field of sustainable tourism – the text gives a set of conclusions how to realize touristic co-operation in practice.

Events and their contribution to regional economies – the BUGA 05

Published Online: 30 Nov 2007
Page range: 514 - 530

Abstract

Abstract

Events increasingly play a major role as important attractions in tourism. Like with other attractions, commonly comprising permanent built infrastructure, changing patterns of size and catchment areas are evident. Most strikingly those changes are identifiable, concerning financial inputs. Frequently, events are important means for city and regional marketing activities. Especially in cases, where public funds are used, evidence is to be provided on whether the money was well spent. The paper shows, which impacts events might have and how they can be measured. The BUGA 2005 in Munich is used to implement and discuss the methods. Concerning this case study a net impact effect for the tourism sector is calculated.
