Abstract

Abstract

A concept of an expert system that can be used for supporting aircraft diagnostic and maintenance processes is presented in the paper. The paper discusses general principles of an expert system creation as well as main tools used for implementation of such a system. A method of application of one of those tools - CLIPS expert system shell, for solving M-28 aircraft maintenance problems is presented in the paper.

Abstract

This paper considered a problem of: the reliability of performance of a nosedive of a jet powered aircraft in the context of the ability of pilots trained on a simulator to reliably accomplish a combat mission. For research purposes, the manoeuvre of attack of a target with the nosedive, which is most commonly used by the pilots performing flights on different types of modern aircrafts, and the basic manoeuvre during aircrew training, both basic and advanced were assumed. The research was conducted on a flight simulator.

The paper discusses the problem of supporting aircraft diagnostic and maintenance processes. A possibility of usage of modern technologies, that could facilitate aircraft’s maintenance procedures and increase safety of their service, is presented. A usage of a mobile device, with implemented expert system and user interface based on augmented reality technology, is suggested. Proposed system structure is presented in the paper. Also, a possibility of usage of such a system is demonstrated on M-28 aircraft simulator

Abstract

Paper presents research results of jet fuels thermal degradation exposed to different thermal loads. This problem is especially important as it influences safety of aircraft operation. Jet fuel in modern engines is used in heat transfer and cooling of different construction elements. Together with new engines’ construction and materials used thermal loads affecting jet fuel become more severe, and thus in aircraft fuel system not well understood phenomena occur, resulting with plugging injectors, valves and affecting elastomers. They affect engine operation and should be well and carefully described and understood to prevent them. Research results presented here are the first data in Poland dealing with jet fuels’ thermal degradation problem. Article is aimed to present the mechanism of jet fuel thermal degradation under different temperatures. The project has been funded by National Science Centre granted with decision no. DEC-2011/01/D/ST8/06567.

Abstract

Abstract

The paper explains how to benefit from information acquired from means for unbiased flight control and to use it for technical condition assessment demonstrated by the aircraft. There are two control parameters that are provided by the means of unbiased flight control and convey the highest trustworthiness and troubleshooting content. The first one is the duration of pressure drop across the avionic hydraulic drive after switching the driving unit off with the span from the upper measured limit to the lower limit. The second one is the total time of the cycle when the pressure drops below the specific threshold and then is restored to that threshold during a hydraulic motor movement (an on-board aircraft actuator). The suggested method enables real time evaluation of technical condition attributable to avionic hydraulic drives, is quick and entails no additional expenses.

Abstract

Abstract

The paper presents selected results of work at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in the scope of testing of the SSP-FK fire suppression system used on many types of military aircraft operating in the Polish Armed Forces. For the purpose of determining conditions for false fire alarms, SSP-FK simulation models have been developed. The study was carried out on simulation models in Matlab-Simulink and Circuit-Maker packages. Results of this work have been used for diagnosis of the SSP-FK system during a test of real cases of false activation of these devices.

Abstract

The article presents a method for assessment of availability and risk functioning of technical objects (transport means) in an executive subsystem. Indexes of the availability and risk connected with functioning of a single technical object have been determined on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation and maintenance process, in the studied transportation system. A Mathematical model of the operation and maintenance process has been developed with acceptance of an assumption that the process model is to be represented by a homogeneous Markov model X(t).

The paper presents selected results of the work carried out at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in the scope of computer diagnostic tests of the SWPL-1 Cyklop helmet mounted flight parameters display system. This system has been designed in such a way that it warns the pilot of dangerous situations occurring on board the helicopter and threatening the flight safety (WARN) or faults (FAIL), which inform about a failure in given on-board equipment. The SWPL-1 system has been awarded the Prize of the President of the Republic of Poland during the 17. International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce.

The subject of this paper is assessment of friction process of model kinetic pair worked under DC voltage. The friction under this conditions may take place in case of triboelectrical phenomena and in friction pairs of electrical motors. The significant influence of electric current flow on friction resistance and boundary film thickness was presented. Results of the research were compared to the results of research under load and without electric current applied.
