The measurement of texture is a widely used method in postharvest and food research. The majority of the textural characteristics of fresh foods, such as vegetables and fruit, are frequently employed as maturity indicators in order to meet long-term storage, transportation and customer fulfillment requirements. Understanding the textural features is also crucial for controlling processing processes like drying, heating, and frying on processed foods. The sensory qualities of the texture have been evaluated using a variety of methods. The methods for measuring texture that are most frequently used are objective tests using a variety of tools. The set of physical qualities referred to as a food’s textural properties includes those that arise from the structural elements of the food, are primarily perceived through touch, are associated with the distortion, disappearance, and the response of food under the action of a force and are evaluated objectively by functions of quantity, distance or time. Due to their well-balanced supply of nutrients, including sugars, organic acids, vitamins, pro-vitamins, and minerals, as well as non-nutritional, advantageous components like fiber and secondary metabolites, fresh fruit and vegetables are vital dietary items for human nutrition. Production processes need to be managed sustainably while producing high-quality products. At harvest, the maturity stage is typically an important factor not only affecting the product quality at harvest but also the susceptibility of the product postharvest. In postharvest, the main task is maintaining the good quality of perishable products for as long as possible to avoid food waste and economic losses. Consequently, knowledge of factors related to produce quality in the pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest stages is relevant for the producer, harvest manager, storage manager, packaging facility personnel, local markets, global distributors, wholesalers, and consumers. The word quality is consistently used throughout the production-to-consumption chain, but its definition changes depending on where in the chain you are. Yet, in each of these stages, quality refers to the product’s level of excellence and lack of defects (absence of defects and blemishes, cultivar-typical ripeness, freshness, a non-harmful amount of residues considering pesticides and other chemicals, and cleanliness). Texture represents one of the four principal factors defining food or fruit quality, together with appearance, flavor, and nutritional properties, and plays a key role in consumer acceptability and recognition of agro-foods.

The use of drones in agriculture and building thermoscanning have become two innovative methods in recent years. A drone is a remotely piloted device equipped with video cameras and other advanced technologies that can fly at different heights and collect data and information useful for agriculture and buildings. In agriculture, drones can be used to collect data on crop health, identify areas affected by diseases and pests, monitor irrigation and soil fertility and plan harvests. Building thermal scanning can be used to identify heat loss, identify weaknesses in building structures and detect thermal insulation problems. The use of drones in agriculture and building thermoscanning can reduce costs and labor time while improving production and efficiency. These are examples of how technology can be used to support sustainable development and environmental protection.

Walnut (Juglans regia L.) is the most widespread walnut in the world. All parts of the plant are important: bark, leaves, dried and green peel of the fruit, septum, core. The benefits of walnuts are due to the presence of phytochemicals such as flavonoids, carotenoids, alkaloids, polyphenols, etc. In addition to the many benefits that walnut has on our health (antibacterial, antioxidant), it also has important phytosanitary and insecticidal properties. Walnuts can be used because of their plant-friendly properties in the form of biopesticides that are safe and can be a viable, inexpensive and cleaner alternative to synthetic products that can be harmful to the environment. This review paper seeks to bring to the fore the available literature on Juglans regia directed on the properties, antifungals and insecticides with action on plants and antibacterials with action on the human body, as well as mathematical models regarding the multiplication of microorganisms.

By using SMAs formulations based on Cu-Zn-Al, the electrical resistivity by employment of an Agilent 4294A Precision Impedance Analyzer was analysed. It results that the different percentages of the metals which make up an SMA, do have an important influence upon resistivity. In particular, for one of the analyzed samples, it was observed that the SME was manifested as a form of “electric properties” memory. The experimental data was fitted using both Gaussian and polynomial fitting.

A new formulation of the informational entropy on multifractal manifolds is proposed. In such a context, some connections with known results from the dynamics of complex systems are presented: correlations of SL(2ℝ) groups with Hamiltonian formalism, simultaneous invariances between two groups (coordinate group and parametric group), linear harmonic oscillator/oscillator ensemble dynamics from the perspective of SL(2ℝ) groups, uncertainty relations on multifractal manifolds etc. Moreover, the existence of a multifractal perspective in the complex dynamics analysis allows direct correspondences with deep learning algorithms.

In this paper, the expression of the electrostatic interaction force between two charged particles is derived in the framework of Stochastic Electrodynamics. The fundamental assumption is that the electrically charged particle can be modeled as a two-dimensional oscillator that scatters the classical zero point field background radiation. The correct expression of the electrostatic force is obtained if the natural pulsation of the oscillator is equal to the Zitterbewegung angular velocity.

Electrostatic Interaction in Stochastic Electrodynamics

Evaluating numerically the interaction forces between two free bubbles, under the action of a background of random acoustic radiation, we highlight the contributions of coefficients <italic>βs</italic>0 and <italic>βa</italic>0 <italic>= βu</italic>0 <italic>+ βth</italic>0 to the magnitude of these forces. The quantitative study of the forces is done for several fluids, as different as possible in terms of properties: water, mercury, liquid helium, and superfluid helium. These forces are evaluated, for different radii of the oscillating bubbles, <italic>R</italic>0 = ⎡10−1 − 10−10⏋ m, that the scattering–absorption forces and the scattering–scattering forces are close in magnitude. For water, mercury and liquid helium, the force ratio is in the range <italic>fa</italic> ∈ (10−3 −1). For superfluid helium, the forces change direction, oscillating, and the ratio of the forces is much less than one, |<italic>fa</italic>| 1.

Quantitative Analysis of Secondary Bjerknes Forces in Various Liquids

In this paper, we continue to demonstrate the analogy between the acoustic world and the electromagnetic world. In the paper, we derive the expressions for: the electro-acoustic force between the bubbles in the cluster and an outer bubble, the gravito-acoustic forces between the bubbles in the cluster and between the cluster and an outer bubble, the temperature corresponding to the translational motion of the bubbles in the cluster (acoustic temperature) and the average acoustic radiation pressure. The most important result is the demonstration of the fact that the modulus of the average pressure of the acoustic radiation around a bubble is equal to the energy density of the electro-acoustic field, Eq. (10). These densities are the oscillation energy densities of the liquid around the bubble that are involved in the interaction phenomenon between two oscillating/pulsating bubbles. We have also demonstrated that the gravito - acoustic forces, at resonance, between the bubbles in the cluster, generated by the absorption of energy in the bubbles, are proportional to the square of the virtual masses of the bubbles, Eqs. (29) and (30).

The purpose of this paper is a general climatic characterization of the 2023 summer in the region of Moldavia, in eastern part of Romania, but with focus on the analysis of the context in which the most intense tropical air advections occurred in this region. The most significant and lasting tropical air waves were in July and August. From a thermal point of view, June had only one interval in which the maximum temperatures exceeded, for 3 consecutive days, the threshold of 30ºC (between 22nd and 24th of June). Instead, in July there were three intervals in which the maximum temperature exceeded this threshold, for more than 3 days in a row (between 01st - 06th, 15th - 22nd, 24th - 26th of July), and August had the longest such intervals (between 03rd – 06th, 13th – 29th of August). Also, in August, there were four consecutive days with maximum temperatures that exceeded the heat wave threshold (26th -29th of August). Without achieving new absolute temperature records (the highest maximum temperature in this interval being 39˚C at the Iași meteorological station, on August 28th), the last heat wave was notable in terms of duration of manifestation. Considering the definition given by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 2020, according to which heat waves are considered those periods of time that are unusually warm in relation to multi-year averages and that last more than 2 consecutive days, we can frame the tropical air advection of July and August in the category of heat waves.

Severe weather phenomena are those meteorological phenomena that can temporarily become dangerous for the population, by threatening its safety or can cause material damage in a certain area. In order for the authorities and the population to be notified in time, meteorological warnings are issued. Therefore, issuing a warning will be taken into account according to the degree of severity of the forecasted meteorological phenomenon and will take into account its extent, how it will evolve and the degree of vulnerability of the regions to be affected. For this purpose, warning thresholds have been established for certain meteorological phenomena that can become dangerous, and based on this, color codes have been established, which gradually show the dangerousness of the phenomena that are about to occur. In the cold season, the blizzard is part of the category of dangerous meteorological phenomena, even more so when they are early or late, in the months of November or April. If the late ones are more frequent, (in the last 10 years there were 2 blizzard events, in 2017 and 2023), the early ones have an even lower frequency, and sometimes it can be a derivative of this phenomenon, because they are not met all the blizzard conditions. This study analyzes a phenomenon that took place in the second decade of November 2023 in the region of Moldova and which was associated with the blizzard phenomenon.

Accelerating computational processes is paramount in numerical infrastructure development, particularly in applications such as the finite element method (FEM) and extensive calculations for simulating 3D processes in materials. In this work, we introduce a novel technique for computing the magnetostatic field of an ellipsoid particle, leveraging CUDA on a graphical card for parallel processing. The implementation on a GPU resulted in a remarkable 20-fold improvement in calculation speed. This achievement not only expedites research tasks, but also enables the exploration of larger and more intricate simulations, facilitating quicker model refinements and deeper insights into material behaviours under various conditions. The utilization of GPU computing aligns with the broader trend in scientific research and engineering, offering a versatile solution for diverse computational challenges beyond this specific task of magnetism. Overall, our work contributes to the ongoing effort to harness high-performance computing (HPC) technologies for accelerated and more efficient simulations in materials science and related fields.

The recent use of digital Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in the healthcare domain can surpass the existing limitations in the centralized IT systems, such as the lack of security, access control or immutability of the electronic health information. If we discuss about clinical information, this innovative informatics advance gives back the control to the data owner. In decentralized environments, smart contracts allow trustable agreements grounded by irreversible transactions, which permit transparency and traceability. Moreover, smart contracts are the living heart of the decentralized applications that run on DTL. In this work, our attention is focused on medical equipments that helps health staff to diagnose and treat patients keeping much of their clinical data taken in dynamics. Hence, we propose a smart contract-based decentralized application framework for the management of devices, targeting also medical services, meant to facilitate the interaction of the involved entities. Our testing environment is the Ethereum platform, extensively used recently in the healthcare domain, being itself a smart operating system that allows decentralized applications to run on it.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the coupled oscillations of multiple bubbles within a cluster. The interaction between a bubble and the other bubbles in a cluster produces an additional mass. For a fixed number of bubbles and uniformly distributed (<italic>N</italic> ---gt------gt--- 1), in case of a certain value of the bubbles number density, we deduce the relations analogous to the Eddington relation (between the cluster radius and the bubble radius) and the Sciama relation (between the cluster radius and the gravitoacoustic radius) according to Mach’s Principle.

The existence of many forms of “liquid wood”, even in the same subgroup, is explained by the fact that the main matrix is made of lignin and lignin can be found in nature in over 60 presentation forms. The lignin molecule is a complex macro – molecule made of three molecules which link together in various shapes. At the same time, structurally speaking, the lignin molecule is dependent on the type of plant species from which it is sourced. It results that the type and the structure of the lignin molecule – and implicitly the “liquid wood” biocomposite matrix – has a major role in the forming and the structuring of every type of “liquid wood”. In the current article, a comparative study of the properties of “liquid wood” pertaining to all three subgroups is presented. The chosen types are: Arboform F45, Arbofill Fichte and Arboblend V2 (which is the subject of the entire study).

The problem of clogging membrane pores has become an area of interest for the vast majority of researchers in the field, because according to the literature, membrane materials are very sensitive when it comes to clogging and blocking pores.
Therefore, this paper briefly describes the problems that occur during the process of obstruction the pores of the membrane. Models and characteristics of pore blocking mechanisms have also been developed.
It is essential to mention that the principal purpose of the paper, which which consisted to review the simulations and classical models that were optimized, used in the analysis processes of clogging of membrane materials, was successfully fulfilled.
According to those mentioned, the combined mathematical models of pore blocking (methods combined with three blocking mechanisms using Hagen-Poiseuille’s law or standard 0-order blocking) have proven to be very effective in describing membrane clogging problems.
