2.5D Sound Field Reproduction Using Higher Order Loudspeakers

Resumen

Abstract

Using 3-Dimensional (3D) sound sources as secondary sources to 2-Dimensional (2D) sound field reproduction, it is termed 2.5-Dimensional (2.5D) sound field reproduction which is currently drawing broad interest in acoustic signal processing. In this paper we propose a method to reproduce a 2D sound field, using a circular array of 3D High Order (HO) loudspeakers, which provides a mode matching solution based on 3D wave field translation. Using the spherical addition theorem, we first obtain a spherical harmonics representation of a 2D sound field reproduced by an array of HO loudspeakers. Then, the corresponding relationship between the reproduced sound field and the desired sound field is established by spherical/cylindrical harmonic expansions. Finally, the modal weights of HO loudspeakers are designed by using a least squares method. Simulation results show that the proposed method extends the reproduction region and significantly reduces the required minimum number of loudspeakers over the other referenced methods.

Knowledge Model Based on Graphical Semantic Perception

Abstract

Based on knowledge representation in product design, we propose a knowledge model of the product design process based on graphical semantic perception. The ontology semantic of the product is analyzed together with the product design process knowledge. Then the basic element model for knowledge representation of the product design process is built. With the concepts of the extension origin point basic element and extension vector thus defined, knowledge representation, consisting of growth, convergence and optimization is realized. On this basis, the model for case base clustering based on graphical semantics is built. Feasibility verification is performed with the case of appearance design of a machine tool. The highlight of the proposed method lies in the combination of the formalized and quantitative approach for product appearance design.

Three-Dimensional Image Measurement by Pattern Projection Using a Single Observation Image

Abstract

Since three-dimensional image measurement allows object surface shapes and dimensions to be obtained quickly and without any contact, it has recently been intensively studied in a wide range of fields, including industry, medicine and security. Three-dimensional image measurement technologies can be broadly classified into passive techniques, such as stereovision and active techniques, such as patterned light projection. Among these, the method of projecting optimum intensity modulated light patterns for three-dimensional image measurement can obtain three-dimensional information on the measured object with a single projection, so it is expected to be highly applicable in practice. Measurement can be performed using a single observation image when the object to be measured has simple colouration or surface reflectivity, but for complex objects, eliminating the influence of colour and surface reflectivity requires a reference image to correct the intensity of the observed pattern. To address this, we propose an analysis method and image correction technology, using a novel colour system for realizing three-dimensional measurements using only one observation image.

Structural Modelling and Deceleration Algorithm for a Follow Aircraft on Performance-Based Navigation Airway Based on Multi-Agent Technique

Abstract

Considering the operation characteristics of the high-speed PBN airway, we propose an aircraft agent structural model and a basic algorithm flow of decision-making by Multi-agent technique. According to the constraint of safe separation and speed with the aircrafts, making use of the car-following theory, the deceleration constraint model is built for a flight management system. When the front aircraft decelerates, the model can offer a speed adjustment proposal for the following aircraft. The model is built based on the minimal safe separation and speed interval constraint; each variable, influencing the deceleration of the following aircraft can be analyzed. Simulation analysis is carried out for different combinations of aircraft types, initial speed, safe separation and deceleration. The follow aircraft deceleration was calculated under different conditions and the results coincided with reality. It is proved that the model can provide safe separation between the two aircrafts.

Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network Image De-Noising via a Detail-Preserving Sparse Model

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a Detail-Preserving Sparse Model (DPSM) for de-noising of images that are usually interfered by noise on the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN). Specifically, based on the Structural SIMilarity (SSIM), the DPSM first incorporates a structural-preserving constraint, which enables the structure in the reconstructed image to be close to the ideal no-noise image. In addition, the DPSM adopts a residual ratio as the stopping condition of the sparse solution algorithm (e.g., Orthogonal Matching Pursuit), which enables the structures to be reconstructed under high noise conditions. The experimental results on several WMSN images have demonstrated the superiority of the proposed DPSM method over several well-known de-noising approaches in terms of PSNR and SSIM.

Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm with Adaptive Chaos Perturbation

Abstract

Most of the existing chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithms use logistic chaotic mapping. However, the chaotic sequence which is generated by the logistic chaotic mapping is not uniform enough. As a solution to this defect, this paper introduces the Anderson chaotic mapping to the chaotic particle swarm optimization, using it to initialize the position and velocity of the particle swarm. It self-adaptively controls the portion of particles to undergo chaos update through a change of the fitness variance. The numerical simulation results show that the convergence and global searching capability of the modified algorithm have been improved with the introduction of this mapping and it can efficiently avoid premature convergence.

Macroblock Importance Based Method for Stereo Video Congestion Control

Abstract

Transporting a stereo video stream over an unreliable channel can degrade severely the video quality. Network congestion is one of the important factors affecting the video quality. To improve the stereo video quality, a stereo video congestion control method, based on the macroblock importance, is proposed. Firstly, the importance of every macroblock is calculated according to its influence on the current frame and future frames. Then, combined with the importance information, all macroblocks of a frame are divided into three levels. Finally, the packets are transported with the help of RTP/RTCP protocol. We discard some not so important packets actively according to the importance levels when a congestion occurs. The results from NS2 simulation platform show that the stereo video quality is improved with the method proposed.

Joint Resource Allocation Scheme for Device-To-Device Communication under a Cellular Network

Abstract

Device-To-Device (D2D) communication is a new technology that allows the mobile terminals to directly communicate with each other by sharing the resources of the cellular network under the control of a cellular system. D2D communication was introduced into the cellular network in order to improve the efficiency of resource utilization and increase the system throughput. However, there exist interferences between D2D links and cellular links due to the resource reuse. In order to efficiently limit the cases of interference, a joint resource allocation scheme for D2D communication under a cellular network is proposed. The scheme, based on the user’s Quality of Service (QoS), defines a new utility function to balance the increasing system throughput and the interference in the cellular users D2D communication. The optimal D2D transmitting power is obtained through optimizing the utility function by using the convex optimization theory. The simulation shows that the scheme can fulfill the user’s QoS requirements efficiently, improve the system throughput and the reliability of the resources as well.

Granular Computing Based Ontology Learning Model and Its Applications

Abstract

The cores of granular computing are the granule, the granule layer and the granule structure. In this paper the concepts “Ontology granule” and “Compatible granule” were defined, applying the granular computing ideas and an ontology model, an Ontology granular set; and thus ontology tree generation algorithms were proposed. These algorithms produce an initial ontology granular set with a compatible class, and extend the other ontology granules by the vector of intension IG, building a lattice hierarchy and a conception tree model of ontology with the vector of relation RG. The empirical research of the traditional Chinese medicine ontology shows that these algorithms are correct and efficient, and provide a good technical way for ontology learning.

Distributed Consistency Method and Two-Phase Locking in Cloud Storage over Multiple Data Centers

Abstract

In replication management under multi-datacenter cloud storage environments, the problem of a replica being inconsistent across multiple datacenters must be solved. Focusing on data management strategies under multiple datacenters, this paper presents a design of a HDFS-based two Cascading Master-Slave Storage System (2CMSSS), which simplifies the research work of the replication management strategies under multi-datacenter cloud storage environments. On this basis a two-phase locking maintenance strategy for replica consistency is presented to validate and fix the problem of replica inconsistency across multiple datacenters. According to the experiment simulation, this strategy can ensure strong data consistency and maintain low latency for users to access data.

Multi-Stage Encoding Scheme for Multiple Audio Objects Using Compressed Sensing

Abstract

Object-based audio techniques have become common since they provide the flexibility for personalized rendering. In this paper a multi-stage encoding scheme for multiple audio objects is proposed. The scheme is based on intra-object sparsity. In the encoding phase the dominant Time Frequency (TF) instants of all active object signals are extracted and divided into several stages to form the multistage observation signals for transmission. In the decoding phase the preserved TF instants are recovered via Compressed Sensing (CS) technique, and further used for reconstructing the audio objects. The evaluations validated that the proposed encoding scheme can achieve scalable transmission while maintaining perceptual quality of each audio object.

An Heuristic Order Promising Method Based on Short-Term Production Capacity Balancing Planning

Abstract

In the MTO (Make-To-Order) and MTS (Make-To-Stock) mixed production environment, it is important to make an accurate delivery promise on the ordering stage because the customer’s demand with unmatched production capacity is not always satisfied. A quick order promising method for an iron and steel enterprise, based on short-term production capacity balancing planning is proposed in this paper. With the help of this method, ATP (Available-To-Promise) concept is extended to RATP (Resource-Available-To-Promise) and DTP (Delivery-To-Promise) is given while making the resource promise. A heuristic method is developed to match the available resources with the order demand and the actual data testing results have shown that the method proposed can meet the demand of online order promising in a relatively short time.

Low Complexity H.265/HEVC Coding Unit Size Decision for a Videoconferencing System

Abstract

With the development of Internet and video capture techniques, videoconferencing becomes still more popular. However, with the increased size of the video resolution, the volume of the raw videoconferencing video data increases dramatically. The H.265/HEVC video compression standard can efficiently compresses the videoconferencing video, while the high compression rate is at the cost of heavy encoding complexity. Hence, reducing the complexity is vital to be used for the H.265/HEVC encoder in videoconferencing systems. In this paper we proposed a low complexity H.265/HEVC coding unit size decision algorithm for a videoconferencing system, by considering the coding content property of the coding unit, in which the coding unit size decision process is terminated if the prediction residuals of the coding unit are all transformed and quantized to zeroes. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves 62.79% on average in encoding time saving, while the rate distortion degradation is acceptable.

Genetic Algorithm Based Clustering for Large-Scale Sensor Networks

Abstract

Despite the success of various clustering algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), there are few works that consider the interference between clusters. Obviously, interference-free clustering makes the communication more efficient and achieves energy saving. In this paper we propose a new clustering method for large-scale sensor networks. With this method the network is partitioned into clusters. Intra-cluster communication in a cluster has no interference by its neighbor clusters. Moreover, the proposed clustering is based on a Genetic Algorithm (GA), which can achieve optimal performance in terms of the number of isolated nodes. This is demonstrated by the simulation analysis.

Simulation on Stern-Rudder Independent Control for Submarine Motion in a Vertical Plane

Abstract

To independently control the depth and trim of the submarine, a fuzzy control method on stern-rudder is proposed, and the advantage of a single stern-rudder in low noise control is elaborated. Taking into account the character of the single stern-rudder, a fuzzy controller is designed. The simulation results have shown that the algorithm has very good control precision, which decreases the rudder and radiated noise greatly.

It also proposes the application of a real map in emergency cases, which has large practical significance.

Mining Similar Traces of Entities on Web

Abstract

Events about entities have been widely collected on Web, allowing us to analyze how peer entities interact and learn the relationships that exist among the entities. In this paper we investigate similar traces that have not been adequately studied so far. Intuitively, peer entities tend to have similar traces. The challenges in mining similar traces are: (1) the occurring time lags of traces are usually unknown and varying; (2) the existence of large-scale events of entities and complexity of the model representing all the events. In this paper we propose a simple, but practical method that addresses all these challenges. Firstly, sliding windows are adopted to filter out the significant events and then find the candidate topic sequences. Secondly, dynamic programming is employed to mine similar candidate topic sequences of entities. Finally, an efficient method is proposed to mine all the similar traces of entities. It is able to mine similar traces of peer entities with high accuracy. We conduct comprehensive experiments on synthetic datasets to demonstrate the efficiency of the method proposed.

Regular Expression Based Online Aided Decision Making Knowledge Base for Quality and Security of Food Processing

Abstract

With regard to the inefficient application of a food processing information system due to shortage of the knowledge acquisition measure and self-updating function of knowledge, a method of constructing an online aided decision making knowledge base for quality and security of food processing, based on regular expression, is discussed in the paper. Firstly, the method establishes an online aided decision making knowledge base for quality and security of food processing based on regular expression; and then an automatic knowledge inference engine is applied to update the knowledge in the base, combined with industry experts’ experience knowledge. Continuous deriving of food processing knowledge can be realized based on the inference engine. The research will greatly enhance the efficiency and applicability of obtaining knowledge from an online aided decision making system for quality and security of food processing.

Since three-dimensional image measurement allows object surface shapes and dimensions to be obtained quickly and without any contact, it has recently been intensively studied in a wide range of fields, including industry, medicine and security. Three-dimensional image measurement technologies can be broadly classified into passive techniques, such as stereovision and active techniques, such as patterned light projection. Among these, the method of projecting optimum intensity modulated light patterns for three-dimensional image measurement can obtain three-dimensional information on the measured object with a single projection, so it is expected to be highly applicable in practice. Measurement can be performed using a single observation image when the object to be measured has simple colouration or surface reflectivity, but for complex objects, eliminating the influence of colour and surface reflectivity requires a reference image to correct the intensity of the observed pattern. To address this, we propose an analysis method and image correction technology, using a novel colour system for realizing three-dimensional measurements using only one observation image.

Structural Modelling and Deceleration Algorithm for a Follow Aircraft on Performance-Based Navigation Airway Based on Multi-Agent Technique

Resumen

Abstract

Considering the operation characteristics of the high-speed PBN airway, we propose an aircraft agent structural model and a basic algorithm flow of decision-making by Multi-agent technique. According to the constraint of safe separation and speed with the aircrafts, making use of the car-following theory, the deceleration constraint model is built for a flight management system. When the front aircraft decelerates, the model can offer a speed adjustment proposal for the following aircraft. The model is built based on the minimal safe separation and speed interval constraint; each variable, influencing the deceleration of the following aircraft can be analyzed. Simulation analysis is carried out for different combinations of aircraft types, initial speed, safe separation and deceleration. The follow aircraft deceleration was calculated under different conditions and the results coincided with reality. It is proved that the model can provide safe separation between the two aircrafts.

Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network Image De-Noising via a Detail-Preserving Sparse Model

Resumen

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a Detail-Preserving Sparse Model (DPSM) for de-noising of images that are usually interfered by noise on the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN). Specifically, based on the Structural SIMilarity (SSIM), the DPSM first incorporates a structural-preserving constraint, which enables the structure in the reconstructed image to be close to the ideal no-noise image. In addition, the DPSM adopts a residual ratio as the stopping condition of the sparse solution algorithm (e.g., Orthogonal Matching Pursuit), which enables the structures to be reconstructed under high noise conditions. The experimental results on several WMSN images have demonstrated the superiority of the proposed DPSM method over several well-known de-noising approaches in terms of PSNR and SSIM.

Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm with Adaptive Chaos Perturbation

Abstract

Most of the existing chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithms use logistic chaotic mapping. However, the chaotic sequence which is generated by the logistic chaotic mapping is not uniform enough. As a solution to this defect, this paper introduces the Anderson chaotic mapping to the chaotic particle swarm optimization, using it to initialize the position and velocity of the particle swarm. It self-adaptively controls the portion of particles to undergo chaos update through a change of the fitness variance. The numerical simulation results show that the convergence and global searching capability of the modified algorithm have been improved with the introduction of this mapping and it can efficiently avoid premature convergence.

Macroblock Importance Based Method for Stereo Video Congestion Control

Abstract

Transporting a stereo video stream over an unreliable channel can degrade severely the video quality. Network congestion is one of the important factors affecting the video quality. To improve the stereo video quality, a stereo video congestion control method, based on the macroblock importance, is proposed. Firstly, the importance of every macroblock is calculated according to its influence on the current frame and future frames. Then, combined with the importance information, all macroblocks of a frame are divided into three levels. Finally, the packets are transported with the help of RTP/RTCP protocol. We discard some not so important packets actively according to the importance levels when a congestion occurs. The results from NS2 simulation platform show that the stereo video quality is improved with the method proposed.

Joint Resource Allocation Scheme for Device-To-Device Communication under a Cellular Network

Abstract

Device-To-Device (D2D) communication is a new technology that allows the mobile terminals to directly communicate with each other by sharing the resources of the cellular network under the control of a cellular system. D2D communication was introduced into the cellular network in order to improve the efficiency of resource utilization and increase the system throughput. However, there exist interferences between D2D links and cellular links due to the resource reuse. In order to efficiently limit the cases of interference, a joint resource allocation scheme for D2D communication under a cellular network is proposed. The scheme, based on the user’s Quality of Service (QoS), defines a new utility function to balance the increasing system throughput and the interference in the cellular users D2D communication. The optimal D2D transmitting power is obtained through optimizing the utility function by using the convex optimization theory. The simulation shows that the scheme can fulfill the user’s QoS requirements efficiently, improve the system throughput and the reliability of the resources as well.

Granular Computing Based Ontology Learning Model and Its Applications

Abstract

The cores of granular computing are the granule, the granule layer and the granule structure. In this paper the concepts “Ontology granule” and “Compatible granule” were defined, applying the granular computing ideas and an ontology model, an Ontology granular set; and thus ontology tree generation algorithms were proposed. These algorithms produce an initial ontology granular set with a compatible class, and extend the other ontology granules by the vector of intension IG, building a lattice hierarchy and a conception tree model of ontology with the vector of relation RG. The empirical research of the traditional Chinese medicine ontology shows that these algorithms are correct and efficient, and provide a good technical way for ontology learning.

Abstract

In replication management under multi-datacenter cloud storage environments, the problem of a replica being inconsistent across multiple datacenters must be solved. Focusing on data management strategies under multiple datacenters, this paper presents a design of a HDFS-based two Cascading Master-Slave Storage System (2CMSSS), which simplifies the research work of the replication management strategies under multi-datacenter cloud storage environments. On this basis a two-phase locking maintenance strategy for replica consistency is presented to validate and fix the problem of replica inconsistency across multiple datacenters. According to the experiment simulation, this strategy can ensure strong data consistency and maintain low latency for users to access data.

Multi-Stage Encoding Scheme for Multiple Audio Objects Using Compressed Sensing

Abstract

Object-based audio techniques have become common since they provide the flexibility for personalized rendering. In this paper a multi-stage encoding scheme for multiple audio objects is proposed. The scheme is based on intra-object sparsity. In the encoding phase the dominant Time Frequency (TF) instants of all active object signals are extracted and divided into several stages to form the multistage observation signals for transmission. In the decoding phase the preserved TF instants are recovered via Compressed Sensing (CS) technique, and further used for reconstructing the audio objects. The evaluations validated that the proposed encoding scheme can achieve scalable transmission while maintaining perceptual quality of each audio object.

An Heuristic Order Promising Method Based on Short-Term Production Capacity Balancing Planning

Abstract

In the MTO (Make-To-Order) and MTS (Make-To-Stock) mixed production environment, it is important to make an accurate delivery promise on the ordering stage because the customer’s demand with unmatched production capacity is not always satisfied. A quick order promising method for an iron and steel enterprise, based on short-term production capacity balancing planning is proposed in this paper. With the help of this method, ATP (Available-To-Promise) concept is extended to RATP (Resource-Available-To-Promise) and DTP (Delivery-To-Promise) is given while making the resource promise. A heuristic method is developed to match the available resources with the order demand and the actual data testing results have shown that the method proposed can meet the demand of online order promising in a relatively short time.

Low Complexity H.265/HEVC Coding Unit Size Decision for a Videoconferencing System

Abstract

With the development of Internet and video capture techniques, videoconferencing becomes still more popular. However, with the increased size of the video resolution, the volume of the raw videoconferencing video data increases dramatically. The H.265/HEVC video compression standard can efficiently compresses the videoconferencing video, while the high compression rate is at the cost of heavy encoding complexity. Hence, reducing the complexity is vital to be used for the H.265/HEVC encoder in videoconferencing systems. In this paper we proposed a low complexity H.265/HEVC coding unit size decision algorithm for a videoconferencing system, by considering the coding content property of the coding unit, in which the coding unit size decision process is terminated if the prediction residuals of the coding unit are all transformed and quantized to zeroes. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves 62.79% on average in encoding time saving, while the rate distortion degradation is acceptable.

Genetic Algorithm Based Clustering for Large-Scale Sensor Networks

Abstract

Despite the success of various clustering algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), there are few works that consider the interference between clusters. Obviously, interference-free clustering makes the communication more efficient and achieves energy saving. In this paper we propose a new clustering method for large-scale sensor networks. With this method the network is partitioned into clusters. Intra-cluster communication in a cluster has no interference by its neighbor clusters. Moreover, the proposed clustering is based on a Genetic Algorithm (GA), which can achieve optimal performance in terms of the number of isolated nodes. This is demonstrated by the simulation analysis.

To independently control the depth and trim of the submarine, a fuzzy control method on stern-rudder is proposed, and the advantage of a single stern-rudder in low noise control is elaborated. Taking into account the character of the single stern-rudder, a fuzzy controller is designed. The simulation results have shown that the algorithm has very good control precision, which decreases the rudder and radiated noise greatly.

Mining Similar Traces of Entities on Web

Abstract

Events about entities have been widely collected on Web, allowing us to analyze how peer entities interact and learn the relationships that exist among the entities. In this paper we investigate similar traces that have not been adequately studied so far. Intuitively, peer entities tend to have similar traces. The challenges in mining similar traces are: (1) the occurring time lags of traces are usually unknown and varying; (2) the existence of large-scale events of entities and complexity of the model representing all the events. In this paper we propose a simple, but practical method that addresses all these challenges. Firstly, sliding windows are adopted to filter out the significant events and then find the candidate topic sequences. Secondly, dynamic programming is employed to mine similar candidate topic sequences of entities. Finally, an efficient method is proposed to mine all the similar traces of entities. It is able to mine similar traces of peer entities with high accuracy. We conduct comprehensive experiments on synthetic datasets to demonstrate the efficiency of the method proposed.

Abstract

With regard to the inefficient application of a food processing information system due to shortage of the knowledge acquisition measure and self-updating function of knowledge, a method of constructing an online aided decision making knowledge base for quality and security of food processing, based on regular expression, is discussed in the paper. Firstly, the method establishes an online aided decision making knowledge base for quality and security of food processing based on regular expression; and then an automatic knowledge inference engine is applied to update the knowledge in the base, combined with industry experts’ experience knowledge. Continuous deriving of food processing knowledge can be realized based on the inference engine. The research will greatly enhance the efficiency and applicability of obtaining knowledge from an online aided decision making system for quality and security of food processing.
