Modeling and Simulation of Systems of Systems – a Survey

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 3 - 36

Resumen

Abstract

The paper surveys the current state of the art and perspectives in the theoretical and practical achievements at the area of Systems of Systems (SoS) and SoS Engineering (SoSE). The conceptions about SoS simulation modeling, subsystem integration and practical implementation issues in the face of main three tendencies for development (academic, military and industrial) are considered. Comprehensive generalized methodology for design, testing and efficiency evaluation of SoS, named DEVS Unified Process (DEVSUP), is briefly summarized.

Conditional Tsallis Entropy

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 37 - 42

Resumen

Abstract

In this paper, the conditional Tsallis entropy is defined on the basis of the conditional Renyi entropy. Regarding the fact that Renyi entropy is the monotonically increasing function of Tsallis entropy, a relationship has also been presented between the joint Tsallis entropy and conditional Tsallis entropy.

On a New Csiszar’s f-Divergence Measure

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 43 - 57

Resumen

Abstract

A new parametric probabilistic measure of information and a corresponding symmetric divergence (distance) measure is proposed. The information measure is useful to study the uncertainty and the corresponding divergence measure is useful for comparing two probability distributions. The proposed parametric divergence measure belongs to the family of Csiszar’s f-divergence measures. The bounds of this divergence measures are obtained in terms of some well known divergence measures. Some properties of the proposed information and divergence measures are studied.

Some Results on Point Set Domination of Fuzzy Graphs

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 58 - 62

Resumen

Abstract

Let G be a fuzzy graph. Let γ(G), γp(G) denote respectively the domination number, the point set domination number of a fuzzy graph. A dominating set D of a fuzzy graph is said to be a point set dominating set of a fuzzy graph if for every S⊆V-D there exists a node d∈D such that 〈S ∪ {d}〉 is a connected fuzzy graph. The minimum cardinality taken over all minimal point set dominating set is called a point set domination number of a fuzzy graph G and it is denoted by γp(G). In this paper we concentrate on the point set domination number of a fuzzy graph and obtain some bounds using the neighbourhood degree of fuzzy graphs.

Resumen

Abstract

The paper studies issues concerning the deployment of third party control on user interactions by Web Services. A mapping of Web Service interfaces onto control protocols in multimedia networks is described. Models of user interaction session are proposed. It is proved that both models expose equivalent behaviour. A use-case example is provided.

Resumen

Abstract

The paper presents a method for representing whole and fragmented ceramic vessels depicted as two dimensional archaeological drawings. The process of construction of such a representation is described. It includes contour extraction from a vessel cross-section, splitting the contour into inner and outer profiles and converting them to tangent representation, is described. Some initial results of experiments, using the proposed representation for solving the task of identification of ancient Greek amphorae are discussed.

Enhancing the Precision of Walsh Wavelet Based Approach for Color and Texture Feature Extraction in CBIR by Including a Shape Feature

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 97 - 106

Resumen

Abstract

This paper proposes a method for enhancing the performance of Content Based Image Retrieval, employing a shape feature along with color and texture of Walsh wavelet. The color and texture features of the images are extracted using Walsh Wavelet and the shape feature is extracted by edge detection using any of Roberts, Sobel, Prewitt or Canny Operator. The performance of the approach is tested based on the precision values on a database containing 44 images. The results show that the precision of retrieval is increased when a shape feature is employed in the second stage of a two-stage retrieval process. Adding the shape as a third feature in a single stage retrieval process does not provide any improvement in retrieval performance with respect to precision and recall. Performance comparison was also carried out with other existing approaches, namely Walshlet and Walsh transform. The experimental results show that Walsh Wavelet has higher precision than Walshlet and Walsh transform. Also, shape extraction with Sobel and Prewitt operators provides better performance when compared to Canny and Roberts.

Discrete Time Sliding Mode Flow Controllers for Connection-Oriented Networks with Lossy Links

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 107 - 121

Resumen

Abstract

In this paper we propose two discrete-time sliding mode flow controllers for multisource connection-oriented networks. Each connection in the considered networks is characterized by a time delay and a packet loss ratio. The proposed controllers take advantage of appropriately designed sliding hyperplanes, which ensure the closed-loop system stability and finite-time error convergence to zero. Moreover, the proposed controllers ensure full utilization of the bottleneck link available bandwidth, guarantee bounded transmission rates, and eliminate the risk of buffer overflow in the bottleneck node. Since the primary controller may lead to excessive values of the transmission rate at the beginning of the control process, the modified controller is designed using the concept of the reaching law, which helps the removing of the undesirable effect.

Diagnosis of Metallurgical Ladle Refractory Lining Based on Non-Stationary On-Line Data Processing

Publicado en línea: 21 May 2013
Páginas: 122 - 130

Resumen

Abstract

A new method for diagnosis of the remaining thickness of metallurgical ladle refractory lining working in a batch mode is proposed, where directly measured by a thermovision camera data about the amplitude and phase delay of the maximum surface temperature is used. Regression equations are obtained to determine the remaining thickness of the ladle refractory lining depending on the parameters of steady auto oscillations of the maximum surface temperature. It is shown that the data from nonstationary auto oscillations could be used for adaptation of the regression equations, predicting the remaining thickness of the ladle refractory lining in case of a local damage.
