POWDER METALLURGY PROGRESS – international journal of powder technology and powder-derived materials.

POWDER METALLURGY PROGRESS is an international peer-reviewed open-access materials science journal with a more than 20 years long publishing history. Since the establishment in 2001, PMP published a wide variety of quality works, focused mainly on powder metallurgy of metals, the evolution of the technology itself, preparation, properties, and applications of particular materials.

In 2021 after the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the journal, it underwent changes and transformations focused mainly on the publishing interests and scope. Now it is extended to broadly all fields of powder-derived materials and technologies.

Works from the fields of powder metallurgy, metals, alloys, ceramics, and composites, basic and applied research of materials science related to mechanical and functional properties, manufacturing, and characterization are always welcomed.

Actual Scope of the journal:

  • materials research such as materials physics, materials chemistry, materials engineering, traditional and advanced powder metallurgy, materials processing;
  • wide range of metal, ceramic and composite materials including metal matrix, ceramic matrix, polymer matrix composites, and hybrid organic-inorganic-metal-ceramic material systems, structural materials, functional materials, biomaterials, porous materials, magnetic electric and multifunctional materials such as magnetic composites, magnetoelectric, magnetocaloric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric, thermoelectric, magneto-optic, magnetostrictive, or high-temperature materials;
  • advanced as well as traditional production technology and processing, additive manufacturing, 3D printing, Press and Sinter, HIP, MIM, PIM, Spark Plasma Sintering, Hot Pressing, Microwave Sintering, Plasma Treatment, Slip Casting, Rapid Heating, Ultrafast Sintering, new progressive compaction and processing methods;
  • influence of material processing parameters on their microstructure formation and development and structural relations of physical, mechanical, and functional properties of materials focusing but not limited on powder materials;
  • special technological processes of PM material with individual-particular-special physical-chemical properties;
  • environmental issues of production and application of PM materials;
  • industrial processes, management, and quality, (creation of normative) standard method activity, economical analysis, conception (philosophy) and prediction in PM and progressive material processing field;
  • production of technological equipment for powder and advanced materials technology.

Instruction for authors

The Editors of Powder Metallurgy Progress (PMP) accept and publish only original theoretical and experimental papers. All contributions should be written in English. The manuscript may be submitted in the form of Review (published on an invitation basis), Regular contribution (maximum 12 pages including tables and figures), Note, short communications and letters (maximum 4 pages), Advertising (based on agreement with the advertiser).

The article text, tables with headings, and figures with captions need to be embedded in a single PDF file and a single DOC file, the .docx format will not be accepted. During the reviewing process, the authors, reviewers, and editors send and receive all correspondence by e-mail. The corresponding author will receive the final decision (revise, accept, reject) of the editor by e-mail, containing editorial comments.

The manuscript should be typed using the PMP template (downloadable from the PMP website). Template set up: page size 17x24 cm; margins (all) 2 cm; single spacing. Times New Roman Font 10 pt.

The manuscript should include the following items

  1. Title
  2. List of authors (FULL NAME and SURNAME, establishment(s) where work was carried out)
  3. Abstract in the range of 100 - 150 words should present a summary of the objectives, content, and conclusions of the paper (without references to the paper, figures, tables, or bibliographical references).
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Text (including separate sections: SECTION, subsection, sub-subsection)
  7. Conclusions
  8. Acknowledgements (optional)
  9. References

The use of the SI system of units is required throughout the paper. The final version of the manuscript (after corrections) has to be accompanied in electronic form (Email attachment).

Acceptance of papers

All manuscripts will be reviewed by 2 specialists. The editorial office reserves the right to disapprove of an article, which is not in journal trend. Papers are reviewed by 1 of members of the Editorial Board and further Reviewer will be selected from the list of potential Reviewers suggested by the corresponding author. The corresponding author suggests names, addresses, and email addresses of at least 2 experts in the subject of the paper. Note that the editor retains the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewers are used.

Text

The final manuscript has to be prepared in a text editor and saved in pure .doc format. Do not use macros, automatic numbering, and indexing in the document.

The heading of sections should be typed all in caps and bold without numbering. For differentiation of subsection, in the first level, bold type without caps and in second level bold italic type without caps should be used.

Equations, mathematical expressions, and symbols should be typed using Symbol font in an extra line.

Tables should be brief and as simple as possible. The size of the table including the title must not exceed 13x20 cm. Each table should have a title placed above the table.

Figures include all graphs, drawings, photographs, and pictures. If the figures are in a graphics format (e.g. png, jpg, tiff), they should be inserted into text using the procedure Insert-Image-From File (avoid using copy-paste function). Each figure must have a caption under the image. The maximum printed size of a figure is 13x20 cm (including caption). Digital images have to be saved as extra files at a minimum of 300 dpi at the presented size (PNG or uncompressed formats are preferred). The author should pay attention to font size in drawings. The drawing has to be readable after resizing to 6.5x4.5 cm.

All tables, equations, and figures should be numbered gradually throughout the text and referred to in the text: equations (1), (2), …; Tables 1, 2, …; Figs. 1, 2, …

References should also be numbered gradually in the brackets: [1], [2], … References should be given in numerical order as they appear in the text at the end of the manuscript.
